Serrana Villa was perfect place to stay for two couples!
We arrived late and went to Petit Peak for our first meal. The food was delicious, very reasonably priced! We would have gone again, but we cooked a lot of meals at the Villa. The Castries Market was great! I definitely recommend going for souvenirs and food, but don’t forget there is a local food market in Soufriere ever morning, and a bigger one held down by Whispers on Saturdays! On the way back from Castries we stopped in Marigot Bay (Where they filed Dr. Doolittle) for a drink. Also on our way back we stopped at a stand in the Banana Plantation and bought fresh bananas, papaya and guava. Which we later made smoothies with! The rum distillery was a fun stop. We didn’t do the tour, just the tasting, which was $4.00 USD and it was a rum free for all! Definitely go if you’re a rum drinker. Anse Chastanet Beach was fun. We went three times. One for sunset swim, Day Snorkeling and Dinner at Aspara. Aspara was amazing! An Indian fashion restaurant. The best cheesy Naan ever! Make a reservation. It was about $140.00 USD for two, totally worth it, so romantic! Go walk down by the waterfront in Soufriere town. Don’t be intimidated by the locals. They may ask for food or money, but they do take NO for an answer. Look for pepto, his boat is named Bismol and pink inside with a green roof (lol). We were going to go on a boat ride, but got busy, we wished we had. There are bat caves and black sand beach. He offered us a ride for US$25.00 per person. Diamond Falls, Mineral Baths, and Botanical Gardens are very close and worth it. Don’t get a guide. They open around 10. We got there at 9:45am and had the baths to ourselves. Must go to Zaka’s coffee shop+Art Studio, near Petit Peak. Don’t buy coffee at the store or drink the stuff here in the cupboard. If you’re a coffee drinker you will appreciate these beans! The owner is super cool too! (Zaka) Sugar Beach was the most beautiful beach in my opinion. We also snorkeled there on the first day and the second time we went we rented paddle boards. When you arrive to the beach at the gate tell them you are patronizing and you will get a ride down from the parking lot. And upon leaving, show them a receipt (for rentals or drinks) and they will bring you back up. For two drinks after tax plus tip was USD$40.00. Go to a few local bars. Any of them. Happy Pizza (?) Down by Whispers with blue lights out front was super cheap! All of the locals are very friendly and welcoming. Hike Gros Piton! Get there early! We were he first one up the mountain that day (arrived at 7am) Mia was a great tour guide! A challenging yet rewarding experience. Have a relaxing day planned for the following day as you will be sore! Piton Waterfall near Martha’s Table was so warm! Don’t need a guide although one tagged along with us and he took pictures and cracked a coconut for us. Tipped him US$3.00. go to Martha’s Table (only open 12-3 on Weekdays) and get bread fruit ball!! Everything was so good! The meat market + Grocery Store in town are super helpful! (And Bakery). We are more than happy with our stay here as Serrana Villa and our lovely host Janus! Our first time to the Caribbean and we will be back! Becca and Matt Staying at Serrana Villa was such a wonderful way to experience St. Lucia! It was great going into Soufriere town, buying produce and living like locals. Highlights Of Our Vacation:
Restaurants:
Eroline Grocery Store in town is pretty well stocked and the meat market nearby is good. We took advantage of both frequently and made meals at the villa. We also bought produce at the local street market! On another note, locals are extremely nice and helpful – just be careful of some who will ask you for money/food. Just tell them you’re good and they will leave you alone. Janus is amazing and an exceptional host! We had a great vacation and now are leaving with some wonderful memories! Kelsey and Michael (Maine, USA) My Husband and I decided to spend our honeymoon at three different locations on the island. What made us choose St. Lucia was the amazing reviews about this villa. From the reviews we planned our stay around the only dates available. This decision became clear on day one that this was the BEST decision we could have mad. We want to say thank you Janus for being a lovely host. Our stay here was the best vacation my husband and I have had to date! Must Do!
Rent a car - 2nd best decision we made. It’s easier to get around, everything is close and there is so much to see in the area.
September Slow Season Alert – Unfortunately Orlando’s and Ladera were closed for renovation during the slow season. The benefits is that the beach isn’t crowded. Today we’re off to the next stop on our list, North of the Island. I’m not sure our next destination will top our stay here! We look forward to coming back and bringing our Friends and family. Thanks Again for the lovely stay and memories. Erica & Valdimir Brooklyn, New York This villa is a wonderful place, and has everything you need for a fabulous trip! There are a few kitchen staples that we replenished and added to the great collection. It was very helpful, we cooked a lot at home, the best grocery store was at Gros Islet called Massy Gourmet (about 1.5 hour drive north), would definitely do that.
Great Restaurants The Still Beach Restaurant:- amazing views of the Pitons and Beautiful Beach! A great place to eat and then go swimming. I’d recommend the Veg. roti (vegan! Yippy), with a Piton. My husband loved the fried fish (so did the cat he fed, haha). Good prices too, lunch was $9.00EC per plate (about). Anse Chastanet Beach Restaurant:- AMAZING WOW FOOD! a bit more pricy for lunch (about $83.00 USD for 2 entrees, 2 drinks (boozey) and dessert) but 100% worth it! Also had great vegan option. Try the ‘’Stairway to heaven’’ Wow! Wow! Wow! Or ‘’ Frozen coco loco’’ It also had beautiful views! Ti-Kaye Restaurant :- For dinner was definitely 5 star! The food was so good and contemporary! You’ll pay around $60 USD for 2. Ok. For vegans you’ll have to ask a lot to make sure they use no dairy. My husband loved the hot pot. Try the Calypso Coffee, it will knock you on your butt (stated by my husband). ForT he Beach Restaurant :- easier for vegans. The pizza with cheese is really good plus the burger, Huge, but to die for! If you go to Gros Islet try Coco Plam Resort for breakfast! Amazing buffet (try the grilled plantain) If you love fishes and water go snorkeling at the beach at Ti-Kaye, the water was so clear clean and quiet. Amazing fish and beautiful coral. Rental is $11USD for each snorkel rental. Probably the best we did. The beach at Anse Chastanet was great too, probably more fish but the Coral was “eh’’. Its mossier and there were a lot more people. We mentioned we were staying at Serrana Villa with Janus and he rented the gear for $20 (together) U.S $11 each an hour. So mention Janus. Remember that legally every beach is free to public! So don’t be afraid to go to the resorts, Have fun! You only have to pay to lay in their chairs. Sulphur Springs :- Really fun plan, about 40 minutes (or less). It feels great on Sunburns. Its a lot of fun. Diamond Falls & Botanical Gardens:- Very beautiful! ( about 1.5 hours ) a lot of cute lizards and amazing plants! The diamond falls were cool, we went around 12:00 and it was empty. Overall this trip was really fun! Definitely go Snorkeling! We did that the most. Staying at this Villa was great! We got to see the real St. Lucia and Janus was so nice and Welcoming. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. The cell phone was super helpful. Thank You Janus! Elizabeth & Jordan Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA |
WEATHER IN SAINT LUCIA
While most places in the world have four well-defined seasons, its proximity to the equator means that this is not really the case for the island of St. Lucia. Archives
