We moved from Sargas to Serrana and Janus was so kind to pick us up and give us a tour of his other properties. We are amazed at the architectural design of Janus’s Villas.
They are truly magnificent. Today was a rainy day so we relaxed and enjoyed the sounds of nature and this incredible view. For dinner our wonderful driver Mali picked us up and drove us to the Mango Tree. The steel drum players were a real treat and the chicken pasta was real good. After Dinner Mali was so kind to drive us to take pictures at the look out point. What a beautiful view of the Soufriere Village. Day 2: The Next day we went on a chocolate tour at the Rabot Estate and made our own chocolate. It was very interesting to learn the history and the whole process! Afterwards we had a wonderful dinner at Pitit Peak’s Day 3: My husband went on a fishing trip with Captain Mike in Castries and Caught 4 Mahi- Mahi . That night the Fabulous Chef Ramsey cooked us the most amazing dinner we had on island. He is the nicest person and a real treat. A must see is Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet!!!! Got to the beach at Anse Chastanet(Drone Footage) and meet the locals. They are so nice and then walk over to the other beach which is only about 5 minute walk. Go to top of Jade Mountain and have a cocktail and an amazing appetizer. The architectural structure of the hotel is truly Magnificent. Mystic Man Sunset cruise was my favorite!!! I cannot put into words how wonderful our stay here at Serrana villa was. Janus and his entire team of workers were nothing short of spectacular . Thank you for making my birthday a magical experience. Thank you for sharing this little slice of heaven with us. Love, Christy & Aaron Atlanta, Ga 7 Days in St. Lucia - The Perfect 1 Week Soufriere Itinerary Aaron & Vanessa Sept. 15th – 22nd , 2019 Yorkshire, United Kingdom 15th Sept. We were picked up from the airport by one of Janus drivers called Malie. Who was really nice & friendly and really knowledgeable about where to go during our stay. Janus met us at the villa and is so welcoming and helpful and the villa is amazing. As it was Sunday, most shops here was closed so we’d researched and booked the Mango Tree Restaurant at the Stonefield resort. (about 5 minute drive) and Malie came and picked us up and dropped us back afterwards on a Sunday the Mango Tree has a pan steal band, who were great and he view of the ocean as we ate was amazing. Food was lovely and great cocktails. Mango Tree had different “things” on during the week so worth checking & booking. Food prices were pretty reasonable. Euro $ 85 for 2 people with drinks 2x courses each 16th Sept. Planned on having a lazy day today as the weather was a bit hit & miss with rain. Wandered into the town for smoothies at Zaka’s Art Café and went to the Supermarket. Spent the afternoon chilling and then Chef Ramsey came in the evening to cook us an amazing creole meal. So tasty & chef Ramsey is so nice & knowledgeable, highly recommend. 17th Sept. Weather was pretty poor today with on & off rain but we didn’t let that stop us. We walked to the Botanical Gardens & Diamond falls in the morning. Took us about 20 minutes. Really lovely place & gorgeous plants. In the afternoon we were picked up and taken to Sulphur Springs which was a lot of fun and left our skin very smooth. Before our visit we’d booked dinner at Jade Montain and this didn’t disappoint. Its quite a steep drive to get there but is worth it. The views were amazing and the food was service was also spectacular. Pricey but as a one-off, so worth it! 18th Sept. We were picked up early for the rainforest tour which was brilliant- pretty intese with a lot of steps, but our guide was great and so knowledgeable and we got to swim in the waterfall too! Because we finished the tour early, Ian our driver took us to the Nature trail which was Fantastic. The view of the Island & Pitons were amazing, we were then taken to lunch in a local restaurant in town which served proper creole meals- so tasty! We then spent the rest of the afternoon at the villa enjoying the pool, the view & Piton Beer! 19th Sept. We wanted to go to Sugar Beach (Drone Footage) and Janus hooked us up with a water taxi ride from the front through one of his guides Jamal. $60 return for both of us which seems the standard price. However we had the whole boat to ourselves. It was an awesome trip, took us 15 minutes and the scenery was spectacular. Boat company called feel good boat tours. Sugar Beach is just stunning. We paid $ 50 each for a shaded lounger & umbrella & towels. It also includes a few complimentary drinks & snacks and the staff were lovely & attentive. We had lunch here which was standard St. Lucia Pricing. We spent the day at the beach & loved it! 20th Sept. We decided to enjoy another day at the villa. Today enjoying the sunshine & the pool. We’d picked up some food from the supermarket on our way back yesterday, so had everything we needed for a lazy villa day. 21st Sept.
Weather was a little bit iffy in the morning. So we decided to stay By the villa but fambled into Soufriere for lunch at Pitit Peak, which was really nice. We then spent the afternoon in the sun by the pool. St. Lucia, the villa, Janus, Malie & Ian here all been fantastic. We’ve had such an amazing holiday & we’re so glad we picked Serrana Villa Airbnb & Janus to make our holiday so special. DAY 1 Arrival! Rented a car through Islander Car Rentals. Smooth process. Janus set up a guide to meet us and help us navigate back to the villa which was so helpful. A stop on the way at Massey for some basics for the we was helpful. After a long day traveling we wanted to eat somewhere close- Janus recommended the Sports Bar at the end of the road to the villa- Used to be Ruby’s. We really enjoyed this! Loved the fig Salad! 😊 DAY 2 Soufriere tour with Ian. Great way to start the trip. Ian was a wonderful guide. Tet Paul Nature Trail. Easy hike & gorgeous view. Don’t miss this while here! Botanical Gardens & Waterfall- peaceful, serene, very pretty. Glad we did this. Maybe would opt to go fine some less touristy waterfall next time. Volcano & Mud baths. Worth it!!! Felt amazing. This evening we wondered through town by foot, met some local people- all very nice- talk to Martin if you see him & buy something from him. We found skippers today. Go there & try their peanut pinch. OMG!! Yum!!! DAY 3 Road trip day. Drove the coast up to Pigeon Island. An adventure for sure. Roads are very hilly, narrow at times. Don’t forget to down shift when on those hills. Castries was too busy for us- stopped at the beach bar for apps & Piton at Pigeon Island- great little spot. We like Soufriere Best though. Possibly would skip the road trip next time. Dinner at Pitit Peak this evening. Wonderful food, reasonable price, nice views & Piton on top. We enjoyed! DAY 4 Anse Chastanet + Mamin- gorgeous. Snorkel here was nice. Us$12 pp for an hour. Friendly staff. Good amount of colorful fish & coral. Water was calm. The walk to mamin along the waterfront to the right of Anse Chastanet took maybe 5 minutes, worth it! Quiet & beautiful beach with bar. Next time I’d spent more time here. DAY 5 Hiked Pitit Piton. Wow! This is a climb. Not one for the faint of hearty. Left at 8am returned about 10:45am. If you do this you must take a guide. We met a local guide the evening before, cost about us$100 for both of us. Bring lots of water, good shoes with grip and if you can gloves. There are many ropes along the trail you’ll use to pull yourself up. It can get rough on the hands. The views though- like nothing else ive seen before. Worth it. Do it if you’re in shape! DAY 6 Jungle biking at Anse Chastanet/ Jade Mountain. The guide gave us a nice tour, then when oriented to the trails you can bike on your own as long as you want. Bikes aren’t in the best shape but we enjoyed ourselves. Several short trails that are easy to intermediate . Got a nice biking jersey (purchased) as a souvenir to take home 😊 DAY 7 Lazy morning at the villa. Nice. Sugar Beach afternoon. Took the shuttle, prepared to pay US$50.00 Per person fee but didn’t have to . Maybe being the slow season but we were told to simply present a receipt from the restaurant & bar to the shuttle on the return trip. Unfortunately no one asked to see a receipt. We enjoyed bbq pork ribs & an appetizer trio at the beach restaurant . Snorkel here was very nice too. Comparable to Anse Chastanet. DAY 8 Pick-up for home. We’ve had a wonderful stay. Janus has been a wonderful host. We used whatsapp to communicate and he was always available within minutes. One day our car battery died and within minutes he had help sent to the villa to jump start the car. Janus sent bread to us the day we arrived and took time to show us around to his to his other villas. Beautiful!!!
Also Chef Ramsey- wonderful!!! Best meal we’ve had here by far!! Absolutely must hire him at least once while here. Worth every penny. We had the garlic butter seafood. OMG!! Nothing really I’d change about this trip and no doubt that we picked the right location. Perfect Villa & Best host To help us celebrate. Thanks for the memories Janus, and we hope to make the trip back one day!! Christian & JD. Chris & Zoe
Scotland Annual Holidays Food: whilst on Island we went to the following for Dinner. Hotel Chocolat: Overall nice food & Great Service. If you want a view when dining book around 6pm, however will be quieter. Price wasn’t too mad but expect to pay over $100usd for 2 just for main & drinks. Dress nice – shorts okay- 8.5/10 Anse Chastanet: probably our least favorite to eat while here- menu wasn’t great, the food was actually nice and the price was fair but not par with other receptions- smart/casual shorty okay- 6.5/10 Sugar Beach: one of the nicest places to eat on Island, had both dinner In the great room & lunch at the Bay side. The great room is very fancy. Dress nice and men wear trousers & collar- food was fantastic. Comes with several pre course nibble. Don’t get water unless you really want it (us$15.00)- expect to pay a lot for 2 people easily over $200 usd (great experience) The Bayside is also very nice for food (more casual) I had the best Veal osso boco. Not as expensive but still pricey (shorts okay)- 9.5/10. *Please go* Jade Mountain- going tonight- looks spectacular – it will cost a lot- is smart dress code going around 6pm to get views of the Pitons at sunet. Activities Gros Piton- a very good experience- Don’t do it unless you are an average fitness as you will struggle. If you are fairly active as a person it is easy. We managed to reach the summit and back down in 2 hours 40 minutes. When you turn up you will be forced on a guide. You don’t actually need one. It’s a path, rocky all the way to the top and it’s the same path up & down. Cost is $50usd per person for a guide & she was too slow for us. The views are good but make sure you go on a clear day.- 8/10 Drive-in Volcano- Sound’s better than it is. Took us about 20 minutes to see the volcano and its cool but not all that exciting.- 6/10 Mud Baths- the better of the two activities. As you will spend more time here and can stay as long as you like. The pools are amazing (very hot) and its fun to spread the mud on yourself. Cost is US$15 per person for both activities and takes about 2.5 hours.- 8/10 Sugar Beach- go & experience this during the day, it’s a fantastic setting between the two Piton. Make sure you set aside enough time to enjoy it- especially if you buy the $100USD per couple. It is a public beach so its free to go & you can lie towels on sand. If you want bed its U.S$50.00 per bed- 8.5/10 Diamond Botanical Gardens & Waterfall- nice Gardens & some cool plants, if you like all things plants you’ll love it, if not the only thing you’ll like is the waterfall us$7 per person General Advice
Enjoy your stay Chris & Zoe |
