"It’s no question Serrana Villa has to be the nicest place to stay in Soufriere. We felt safe knowing that Janus lives right next door." - Abby + Matt

5/28/2018

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon. It’s no question Serrana Villa has to be the nicest place to stay in Soufriere. We felt safe knowing that Janus lives right next door.

The other entries are super helpful, but one thing we wondered was how old everyone was/ where they’re from. Because we are the type who would ever spend $50 to rent a beach chair.

We’re 29 and 30, from Midwest America, so $16 cocktails are insanity to us. We avoided stuff like this at all costs. Back home, you can get a very nice land crafted cocktail for $16 and it’s an experience. But $16 for a cheap, sugary wells cocktail is a J-O-K-E. So, we bought a couple bottles of wine to enjoy here at the Villa.

We mostly hanged at the Villa relaxing/ reading, watching Netflix (The new Ali Wong is great). We bought eggs/snacks on the way in and that helped us not have to eat out as much. We did have to go to Erolines grocery for more water and found it to be similarly stocked as the Massy stores in Vieux- Fort. The large jugs of water are about 4litres, so get one per 2 people per day plus some small bottles to take on the go.
HERE ARE THE PLACES WE WENT:

Mango Tree

. Great View, nice setting
. You can get an entrée here for around $30 USD and a glass of wine for around $8. We did not get an Appetizer, but each got wine and a meal for around $90 USD total. This was our “nice” meal out.

Tet Paul Nature Trail

. Follow the signs
. There is parking at the trail + it will be obvious to you if you’re driving yourself
. We just walked right on the trail for free, didn’t care about paying a guide. It’s so short anyway, so not worth having someone show you around.
. Short + sweet, great views and one of the highlights of our trip.

Sugar Beach

There’s lots of mixed info, so here is our account/hack
We were told we had two options: pay $50 USD per person to park inside the gate + take shuttle down (you get a $50 pp voucher to spend at the beach) or pay $10 to park in the dirt lot outside gate + walk down. We chose the latter.

The walk is steep, but if you are able it’s not bad. If you have knee or ankle problems this will bother you. If it even took 15 mins to walk down, I wouldn’t believe it. I thought it seemed like 10mins.
The scenery is pretty, but the beach not very big. The resort seems nice and we felt very comfortable hanging out on both sides. If you’re expecting a stretched OP sand on the public side, you’ll be disappointed (basically crowded with chairs)

We went to the restaurant and ordered a margarita pizza for $19 USD (plus feed). They give you bread, chips plus filtered water. This was the cheapest filling thing on the menu. It hit the spot we got plenty to eat.

On the way up, we asked for a receipt to take the shuttle. I was told at the top you basically have to show a $50 pp receipt but ARS was $22 and we just handed it over + climbed on a bus. Nobody made it an issue and we rode back to our car in the shuttle. I would not have wanted to walk back up the hill, TBH.

All in all, a great relaxing trip. Lots of reading was done. Thank you, Janus, for being a great host

We highly recommend the hike! It was harder than what we expected, be prepared to climb a lot, not with ropes or anything but its lets of a trail than we thought.

My friend and I stayed at this villa as we embarked on our south side of the island journey. We were only here for two days but we loved our stay!

The view is to die for and the house comes with everything you need. While we were here we went and did the drive through volcano and mud baths which were great, botanical gardens which were amazing and hiked the piton (smaller one I think) We highly recommend the hike! It was harder than what we expected, be prepared to climb a lot, not with ropes or anything but its lets of a trail than we thought.

Lastly you all have to go to Boucan at Hotel Chocolat for dinner. It was a little pricey (especially for straight out of college students) but so worth it . Everything on their menu includes some sort of chocolate. The view was the best view out of all of the island. Its right at the base of one of the pitons, and its patio opens right into the piton.

We didn’t stay long, only two nights and we loved it and hope you gained some insight! Enjoy your stay!

A great visit to St. Lucia, in the perfect Air BnB!

We had a fantastic time here. Hard to even leave the patio with the perfect view here. We mostly ate our meals in as we are vegan. We tried Doolittle’s in Marigot Bay as they have tofu, greens on the menu (dreadful service though).

We were delighted to find a little food truck in Soufriere called Sa Nou Iration on the road that’s in front the beach. Great food very reasonable prices! We bought four large dahls, paid $9 (she asked for 48 or $9).

We enjoyed all the things others mentioned, the Botanical Gardens, Tet Paul Nature Trail (very short, easy but fantastic views) the volcano etc.

If you drive down to Anse Chastenet (go early there is free parking just outside the resort) go left when you get to the beach- there is a protected marine area great for snorkeling. Stay away from the seaweed if you can – my husband was stung in the face 2x (snorkeling) by sea ants that hang out in the seaweed.

We picked up people along the roads who needed rides- really enjoyed being able to do so (would not do this at home in the USA). If you come across a pop up bar while driving, stop, enjoy! Also enjoyed the bar on the sand, next to the dock (across from the police station)-lots of locals.

A great visit to St. Lucia, in the perfect Air BnB!

THANKS JANUS!!

We’ve had the best visit we could have wished for. Here are our highlights;

5/6/2018

We arrived in St. Lucia on a Sunday as part 3 of our ultimate honeymoon. (Part 1 Skiing in Canada, Part 2 sightseeing Seattle + Vancouver) so we were tired after 2 long nighttime flights. Therefore we were so pleased to find milk + Eggs in the fridge. Especially since the supermarket was closed. Such a welcoming arrival.

We’ve had the best visit we could have wished for. Here are our highlights;

Dining
Fedos – 5/5
Jade Mountain 5/5
Boucan 4/5
Dasheene 4/5
Anse Chastanet Beach Bar 4/5
Anse Mamin Beach Bar 4/5

Beaches

Anse Mamin – secret paradise worth the walk!
Anse Chastanet – Good easy location. Toilets clean, but busy.
Sugar Beach – Park outside the gates. Pay the $10. Than walk the 20 mins to the beach. Treat yourself to a $50.00 Sunbed and lunch then you quality for the free shuttle back. Overated as a beach though luxurious.

Thank you again Janus for a Fab stay.

    WEATHER IN SAINT LUCIA
While most places in the world have four well-defined seasons, its proximity to the equator means that this is not really the case for the island of St. Lucia.
