SERRANA VILLA JOURNAL

Explore all the Trailblazers. They’ll put you on the right path.

Thank you Janus, it’s been an excellent stay and the villa had everything we needed and we’ve enjoyed meeting and chatting to the locals

10/25/2017

We traveled down from Marigot Bay having explore the top of the Island in our first week.
We followed Janus’ instructions and came straight here and met Janus as arranged.

What a stunning location

Janus gave us the tour of the Villa and everything looks great. Lots of extra touched like the excellent wifi and use of a phone. I’m sure we’ll have a good time.

We found the supermarket in the town and they seemed stocked for all essentials and we also found the bakery.

In the evening we walked down to Ruby’s- no Pizza but we did have some good fish.

Wed- We has a really good night sleep. The Master bedroom is great and the air condition is perfect. We had an exploring day checking out the local attractions.

Boucan for the chocolate experience and booked the restaurant for a special meal on Sunday – Our Ruby wedding anniversary. It’s expensive but this is an occasion and why we’ve come to St. Lucia now.
Gros Piton Trail- the staff were really helpful and gave good advice about the climb. We’ll aim to go on Saturday.

We then explored around a bit and ended up at Anse Chastanet beach. It’s quite hotel oriented but we walked along the beach and had a beer at the bar. The staff were fine.

Had a late lunch at Hamming Bird. Good Value and friendly staff, especially the owner.

Thurs- We set off early to be at the Hotel Chocolat plantation for 9 for the chocolate experience. It’s expensive but informative and hands on. Lots of tasting and you get to graft your own tree. You also handmade your own chocolate bar. Not sure it will taste as good as their usual chocs. We didn’t leave til after 12 so a full morning.

Came back and enjoyed the Villa and cooked supper, plenty of utilities and pans.
Fri- After a lazy start, cooked breakfast. Janus had sent over fresh bread & oranges.
Botanical Gardens- had a lovely walk around the gardens and waterfall. Staff were very helpful and the variety of plant life is very interesting.

Wanted to eat out in the evening so we reached Janus for any local recommendations. We tried Pitit Peak on the waterfront. Lovely setting overlooking the bay. We tried local creole food which was very good. The waitress was happy to explain to us what the different vegetables were. On the way up stopped in a local bar for a Piton.

Sat-As advised up early 6:00am to do the Gros Piton Climb. Arrived about 7:30 and was met by a guide. He did all the paper work and was with us the whole morning. The climb is tough and you need proper shoes, plenty of water and follow the advice of the guide. He was great and very encouraging and gave us lots of local information. Getting up early was perfect as we were back down before the heat of the day. A real sense of achievement but you have to be fit.

Afterwards we went to the Mud bath or Sulphur Springs to relax. It was crowded with a tour group when we arrived but luckily, they went and we has the baths to ourselves. Good relaxation for tired muscles.

Sun-The day of our Wedding anniversary, had a late breakfast then relaxed around the pool. Our guide Kesia from the Gros Piton Hike told us about the Creole Festival a celebration day at the Au Poye Parc with local creole food music. He said we’d be welcome, so we arrived at about 10 o’clock. The people were really welcoming and seemed pleased we had come. Our guide had even told people that it was our wedding anniversary. We sampled the local dishes and heard about the history. Really good fun.
Afterwards we spent a couple of ours at sugar beach. Contrary to some reports the staff were very helpful and welcoming.

Home then to shower and dress up for dinner at the boucan. Janus arranged for Jamal to pick us up, so we can enjoy a drink with our meal. Starting with an excellent cocktail. When we booked we said we were celebrating a wedding anniversary and our table was decorated with beautiful flowers. Excellent food, lovely staff, great setting. Jamal was easy to contact for the return. Brilliant service. When we got back we sat on the terrace each a cool glass of champagne, perfect and to a memorable day.

Mon- we enjoyed a relaxing breakfast and spent the morning on the terrace or cooling in the pool.
We thought we’d try the waterfall experience. Tried the torille waterfall first but it was busy, so we thought we’d come back later… The Piton Falls were having some maintenance, so ally I pool open and you couldn’t access the waterfall.

Stopped at Martha’s Tables for a drink but didn’t eat. Although the food looked delicious. We returned to torille Falls. Quiet but a heady shower put us off, so we returned to pack our bags- home tomorrow.
Thank you Janus, it’s been an excellent stay and the villa had everything we needed and we’ve enjoyed meeting and chatting to the locals

Annette & Mike - From Cambridge U.K

To us its like lifestyles of rich and famous. Our lucky group will be sadly leaving what we consider paradise “Serrana Villas” to move to another new location of Janus’s called “Sargas”. Thanks Janus.   You are a wonderful human being.

It’s difficult to say how amazing and wonderful our journey has been.

Four women, friends for 30 years, have planned birthday celebration trips!
This was Cathy’s 60th  Birthday! The villa was chosen on the website and from entry it did not disappoint!!

It begins with a very wonderful accommodating host Janus!! His welcoming and kind nature was so genuine.

From there. Have you taken a look at this place!!! Every turn has spectacular views. The private balcony was the perfect setting for dancing and enjoying our celebrations!!

The walks into town were enjoyable; safe, and a wonderful taste of St. Lucia!

We very much enjoyed our walk to botanical gardens (US$7.00) a must if you enjoy flowers, serenity and beautiful waterfall!! Mineral bath extra, we passed.

Dinner at Ruby’s > 2 thumbs up, amazing ambiance and our birthday dinner. Called ahead they decorated and made it very special!!

We did a day trip, Volcano + Mud bath, chocolate plantation, tet paul trail and waterfall. All were excellent and very close proximity.

Perhaps if you enjoy eating “St. Lucia” foods – “Fedos a walking distance was very reasonably priced  - all local cuisine.

Tomorrow is our journey to climb pitons. Janus has organized pickup and transfer to sugar beach!!

Our lucky group will be sadly leaving what we consider paradise “Serrana Villas” to move to another new location of Janus’s called “Sargas”. To us its like lifestyles of rich and famous. We will miss this villa however because of Janus we will be also enjoying another fabulous view and setting.

Believe me when I speak he is a wonderful accommodating host. I will surely recommend his places to any friend of mind. His take and tour service is amazing.

Thanks Janus “Tiger Woods”
You are a wonderful human being. You have made our celebration very very memorable!!!
XOXOXOXO

    WEATHER IN SAINT LUCIA
While most places in the world have four well-defined seasons, its proximity to the equator means that this is not really the case for the island of St. Lucia.
