Raleigh, North Carolina
Shauna & Andy

We have thoroughly enjoyed a magical week in St. Lucia for our belated honeymoon! From the natural beauty of this island, the local food and this gorgeous villa, we could not ask for more. Janus and his team have been so welcoming and kind. Thank you for making our stay so effortless and relaxing, you all are amazing!

Day 1: Arrived in St. Lucia from North Carolina. Ramiah picked us up at the airport. He was gracious enough to stop at Massy’s supermarket on our way to the villa and even ordered takeout from a local restaurant  (perk’s Café) for our dinner. We got chicken roti and creole fish, both of which were delicious! After dinner we relaxed on the patio- the stars are breathtaking and we even saw a shooting star!

Day 2: Woke up feeling refreshed and made breakfast at the villa. Jordan drove us to Malgretoute beach which is a small quiet beach right next to Sugar Beach. It is U.S $15 per person for a lounge chair/umbrella for the day and they have food and drinks available as well. The water is so clear and the view of the Pitons from the water is just spectacular! We had dinner at the Mango tree. Views at the Sunset and ambiance with live music were top notch but food was disappointing. We concluded that we will stick to eating the local food that is amazing and so much cheaper! Relaxed under the stars again before bed. Lovely!

Day 3: Had a relaxing morning at the villa by the pool. It has been our private oasis and such a tranquil space for relaxation. We walked into Soufriere in the early afternoon and went to fedos for lunch. Food was delicious and staff was wonderful. Two heaping plates of local food a  local beer was us$16. We will definitely be back. After Lunch we meandered down to the Market near hummingbird beach and bought pineapple and magoes from the locals. We wanted to sit by the water but unfortunately it was hard to relax with all the people approaching us for money so we headed back to the villa. Janus met us at the villa a showed us his other villas. Each place is beautiful with incredible views. He has a vision and true drive and passion that shows in his work. Very impressed. He dropped us back at Serrana just in time for Chef Ramsey to cook dinner. He was so courteous and kind and chatted with us as he cooked. We had the fish with banana bbq sauce- delicious and presentation was beautiful. Highly recommend!!

Day 4:

Ate Chef Ramsey’s left overs for lunch before heading out to Tet Paul Nature trail us$10 pp, 30 minute hike with beautiful views of the island and Pitons! Must do while you’re here. Afterwards cooled off in Torille waterfall, beautiful spot but definitely felt touristy. On our way home we picked up stewed chicken and pork from another local restaurant  for our dinner at the villa. Once again, food was amazing. Eat local!!!

Day 5:

Jamal dropped off local breakfast to our villa $20 for both of us and $10 delivery fee! It was traditional saltfish and cucumber salad with delicious local bread. Definitely different but we loved it! We left the villa for 9am to go to the mud baths! Highly recommend going early to beat the resort crowds. Skin felt amazing afterwards. $10 pp, recommend wearing a dark colour swim suit. Went from Mud baths to malgretoute beach again. We enjoyed snorkeling right off the beach and saw many colourful fish and a large family of squid- so cool! We brought our own snorkeling gears but I believe it was $10 pp for rent. Our total bill at the end of the day including drinks and food and umbrella & chairs was us$60. Well worth it! Came home to freshen up for our Couples Massage they set up their tables on the patio with the backdrop of this gorgeous view and the sound of the birds and trickling water. We did the onminute (you and I) massage for us$130pp plus tip. Worth every penny! 10/10!! For dinner we enjoyed another delicious take out from Perk’s Café. Two amazing dinners- roti and stewed chicken for less than us$20.

Day 6:

Today is the Corpus Cristi holiday so most places are closed. Janus stopped by to drop some delicious juicy mangoes in the afternoon. Such a treat! We spent the day lounging and readying by the pool and went to Ladera for dinner. We got there an hour before our reservation to enjoy cocktails and sunset on the deck. The ambiance was breathtaking. Dinner was very good but definitely over priced. Cocktails, appetizers and 2 entrees was us$190 including tip. Very enjoyable- would certainly recommend ladera over the mango tree.

Day 7:

Walked down town to Fedos for breakfast. Delicious! The doctor came to our villa around 11am to  Covid test us as we are leaving tomorrow. Afterwards we headed to Malgretoute beach for our last beach day. We finally saw blaze, a local who comes to the beach on a small boat and blended fresh fruit cocktails right off of the boat. It was US$15 for 2 pina coladas but also made us try soursop fruit and also made us  a fresh mango and st. lucia shot glass! We snorkeled once again and saw an eel and many fish but we couldn’t find the squid this time. Headed to Orlandos for dinner. He was a 5 course price fixed meal for us$60 pp. Chef Orlando greeted us and introduced the dinner/experience. The ambiance was beautiful, food was delicious and the staff was great, so sweet. Highly recommend for a fancier night out that still feels local with amazing food.

Our Menu- plantain with mango salsa sauce – pumpkin soup with grilled bread – noodle salad – chicken with risotto – king fish in a delicious broth with vegetables – rum & raisin cheese cake. Great Last full day!

Day 8: Woke up and enjoyed more amazing mango from Janus.Best we have ever had. Headed back home this afternoon.

Tips :

Eat local – food is amazing and generally much better and less expensive than the resorts. Watch for bones!

Carry cash – most places are cash only, there is an ATM down town if you need more, malgretoute, chef orlandos, chef ramsey, covid-19 tests and all resorts take card

Go down town – Don’t be afraid to walk down town. It is an experience. The closer you get to the water/ docks you will likely be approached by locals trying to sell you “gifts”

Highlights

Sunshine spa day  @ villa, mud baths, malgretoute, chef Ramsey, orlandos, fedos for lunch

    WEATHER IN SAINT LUCIA
While most places in the world have four well-defined seasons, its proximity to the equator means that this is not really the case for the island of St. Lucia.
