Aug. 22nd- 29 2019 Honeymoon & Babymoon (we bought a pregnancy test on your trip and it came out positive) Food Eat as much fresh fruit as possible while in St. Lucia, including from the property Janus welcomes his guests to pull fruit from the trees. Favorites- passion fruit, mangoes, guavas also try sour-sop juice! Check out Martha’s Tables for lunch (open until 3pm) very good creole food and rum punch. 10 minute drive Jade mountain club : unbelievably beautiful property but extremely difficult to get to it driving. Meal was very very good but also very expensive (US$300 for 2 people) if you go get there before sunset to see the views. Boucan: magical setting but food, service and value only OK. Private chef Ramsey: awesome! Best dinner yet (and least expensive) Ramsey made us authentic creole food and cleaned up after us. He was very pleasant and left us completely full and relaxed! Hummingbird- great authentic creole dishes for a very reasonable price (us$90 for 2 people including drinks) great service- the owner & chef take a lot of pride in making sure their guest are happy (went for dinner) Fedos: only open until 5pm and only accept cash. Stopped in for lunch- great creole food and awesome value (lunch for 2 was only us$17 and we left stuffed Mango tree” very tasty meals in a beautiful setting overlooking the sea & Pitons candle lit dinner and the stars are fully visible. Try the passion fruit ice cream! 8 min drive from here Summery: you don’t need to spend a ton of money to get food here. We did our research on restaurants on trip advisor before our trip and most of the highest making spots are also the most expensive. Almost every restaurants has a beautiful outdoor setting. So you wont go wrong there given the rough road conditions, its also worth cooking at the villa a couple nights! Tried making local dishes, the kitchen is full stocked with cooking supplies. Activities: Make sure to allow for enough time to lounge at Serrana villa- pool time (to sun set, stargazing etc. Rainforest Spa (Sugar Beach resort) this was the most incredible spa experience we’ve ever had! Highly recommend, especially for couples on their honeymoon, we did the ‘’romantic escape rituals’’ package will upgrade . truly magical Sugar Beach: we visited sugar beach following our spa appointment and were blown away by the resort property and the beach itself…stunning! Will be coming back later this week. Kieran Yacht Services. We went deep sea fishing in Marigot Bay with Kieran & Histwo crew mates, Pardo & earl. We had a blast caught a ton of Mahi Mahi and a few Jack Fish 4 hours of fishing for $550 and went cliff jumping! Got to take home a Mahi Mahi of our choosing and it was delicious. M=Note: Made it with just butter, salt and pepper. Anse Chastanet: Great snorkeling right off the beach. You don’t need reservation, can just show uo and rent for us$11 per person. Also need a us$50 cash deposit per person or can leave your keys in place of a deposit. Anse Mamin Beach: Beautiful, largely, private beach a 7 minute walk from Anse Chastanet beach. Go to this beach. Great bar & Grill right on the beach with amazing burgers overall we liked Sugar Beach, the best but based on the reviews of others we think our experience was so good in part, because we went straight from our spa apt to the beach. Other reviews have complained about being given hard time by sugar beach resort staff when trying to access. General Advice Local groceries store – Eroline’s (15 minutes walk) Fresh produce and fish sold early in the morning right next to Soufriere Beach Park Buy paper towels for house (not provided) USD/ECD and credit cards accepted most places, suggest always carrying some cash Don’t leave anything sweet laying out- the ants here will find it in minutes Wear sun screen! Drink rum punch! Try frying some beautiful ( in placed of Potatoes for breakfast- delicious! I just used Olive oil, salt & Peppers Try Barons Ketchup + Hot sauce- so good! Skinny dip Jacob & Kelsey -Honeymoon, august 2019
Day 1 Flew into UVF- 2:55PM, got picked up at the airport by one of Janus’s drivers (Mike). Mike was so friendly and helpful…he even let us stop by the Massey’s to pickup a few things! We recommend hiring someone to take you from airport to Serrana Villa. Roads are crazy! Janus met us at Serrana, after Mike was kind enough to take us through town and show us some fun spots. Janus gave us the tour of the Airbnb and was so friendly and helpful. After Janus left we sat and read these books to see what we wanted to so! So fun! We decided we wanted to have the private chef over the next night because of all of the wonderful reviews! Janus set it up for us, easy peasy! Spent the rest of the evening watching Netflix, cooked a frozen pizza we picked up from Massy’s then went to sleep! Day 2 We had breakfast @ the villa then walked into town for the ATM before heading to Anse Cahstanet. A local stopped us in town (trying to be nice) we chatted with him as he gave us a tour. $45ec’s later and we finally headed to Anse Chastanet. Moral of the story: be nice but say no thanks or else you will have $45ec’s less than what you got at the ATM. Anse Chastanet was nice. $12usd per chair but was worth it! The walk there and back is like a hike. Great exercise ! We came to the villa, swam and cleaned up before Chef Ramsey came and prepare us the incredible meal! Grilled seafood garlic lime butter sauce. Incredible! I couldn’t pick my favorite but Jacob said his favorite part was the fish & creole vegetables. It was all incredibly delicious! Day 3 We stayed at the villa most of the day besides walking to Zaka’s in town for lunch. The iced coffee was $6usd and smoothie was us$5. That night we went to Boucan by Hotel Chocolat. Wonderful meals, wonderful sunset view! 1 drink, 2 main entrees and a desert US$105. We highly recommend a day at the villa & enjoying Soufriere. Day 4 We woke up early & went to Sugar beach @ 9:00am. Mike dropped us off as close to the beach as he could and we shuttled the rest of the way. We took the shuttle for free because we planned on buying the day passes. We talked to 2 guests employees on our way to the beach looking to buy the guests passes US$50.00 per person. But since we got there so early, the restaurant wasn’t open to take our credit cards and proceeded to direct us to the hotel side of the beach. We were 1 of 3 couples there. So an employee told us we can sit In the second row with an umbrella (1st row reserved for guests at the hotel) it was still a good spot. Later on in the day they gave non hotel guests the option of the very back row or one of the chairs without umbrella, so happy we got there early to get a great spot! The employee who led us to our spot also said we would have to pay the us$50.00/chair once the restaurant opens. So we hang out, lounged and around lunch we went to ask for the us$50 day pass to buy food but the employee told us just use credit card to pay for food. We ended up ordering a pizza beachside and finally paid for the chairs when we paid for the pizza. Pretty sure that if we hadn’t ordered lucn that we would have been able to go for free. All in all it was US4150.00 compared to US$200. Because they only charged us for the 2 chairs not the day pass! Tip- get there early, so worth it! And take the shuttle because it is free if you buy anything there. People were very nice despite some reviews! Day 5 We went to Tet Paul @ 9:00am. Our tour guide was amazing and the views were breathtaking! Come back and hung out @ the villa until lunch we went to Fedos & Zaka’s again. Fedos was so yummy and cheap! Chicken roti & fish curry were great! Came back to the villa, swam until dinner. We walked t Valelse for dinner. Grilled chicken salad, chicken roti were both yummy. They also had burgers, sandwiches, drinks etc. walked back while Janus passed us on the way and took us to see his other properties and future properties. So fun and cool to see! They’re all beautiful! He dropped us back off at the villa and we hang out the rest of the evening poolside. Day 6 Last day, check-out @ 11. Going to mis Soufriere, St. Lucia and this place! We wouldn’t change anything about our vacation and loved everything we got the chance to do! Janus is an incredible host and he will help make your vacation the best it can be Colleen & Jon- honeymoon
Day 1: we landed at UVF and arranged a pick-up through Janus. Our driver was Super Easy to find and he was friendly. The ride to Our Airbnb was a little scary but worth it once we got there! Janus greeted us immediately and provided us with some eggs, juice and crackers since it was Sunday and all the grocery stores are closed on Sundays. We were hungry so decided to walk to Pitit Peak for food. We loved our bacon wrapped plantains! We also ordered a BLT and chicken wrap that were okay. We were just happy to be eating with views of the Caribbean. The locals were very friendly and helpful WITH DIRECTIONS. On the walk back to Our Airbnb it started pouring. We stopped at cool Breeze to buy some Piton for the night and headed back to relax for the rest of the night! Day 2: woke up to rain! One of Janus drivers took us to get groceries and then we walked to The Botanical Gardens- the waterfall was beautiful and well worth the $7 to get in. We were hoping to go to Jade Mountain for Lunch or sit at the bar but they were booked so we went to’ trou ou diable’ and split the tropical island burger and it was delicious! We walked to Tree House Restaurant next door and enjoyed a drink with a great view! We then had our driver take us to Hummingbird beach resort where we split the St. Jacques Shrimp and a pasta dish- both good! We walked back to the Villa after and enjoyed a bottle of wine under the stars! Day 3:Janus gave us tours of his other properties in the morning- they’re all amazing. We hiked Tet Paul Trail- highly recommend. Easy trail and great views/photo opps. We then went back to Serrana and get ready and another driver took us to Dasheene at Ladera for lunch. We had our best drink of the night called (screaming orgasm) My husband loved his burger and my seafood pasta was pretty good. The views was unbeatable! We then walked across for a drink at Boucan by Hotel Chocolat. It was good (especially if you love chocolate) we then got a ride back to Serrana by Janus and enjoyed the pool until chef Ramsey arrived. He cooked us pork with Pineapple and bananas and it was the best meal we’ve had thus far in St. Lucia. Tip – when sitting outside at night do not have ‘’pool light’’ on, on the porch, gets so buggy, we had to get in early because they were covering our clothes. Day 4: time to leave ☹ We enjoyed breakfast here while taking in the view and did some laundry. One of Janus’ drivers will be taking us to our next destination in Castries. Overall: Thank you Janus. You’ve been a responsive helpful host and we hope to be back some day Colleen & Jon Worcester, NA,US We; my wife and I, got here July 28th just before midnight from St. Moasten. Woke up to the sound of crickets, yard bards and grass hoppers. We stayed in for that entire day; by the way we received fresh bread from Janus’s crew for breakfast.
We had a rented car early the next day which was Tuesday and drove down to Soufriere town to do some grocery shopping. We did not do much else that day. The next day we drove to Castries but could not find a packing spot so we drove around for like 2—30 minutes and took our time back to Soufriere. We wet to Vieux-Fort the following day, made a few stops here and there just to get familiar with the place. You see we are from St. Moasten NA and we did not really shop except for a few items that we bought (extra virgin coconut oil, cocoa sticks, nut megs & turmeric) uch are pricey back home. We spend the next 2 days really relaxing, that’s what we came here for. Oh yes! Friendly and courteous people at every point that we stopped. The villa is excellent, clean and very quiet and Janus is just exceptional. Leaving tomorrow at 5:00am, heading back home; hope to visit again some sweet day! Valentine & Lycia Celestine |
