Perfect spot! Janus kicked ass with energy and a super warm welcome! We’ve been at many Airbnb’s around the world, and Janus is undisputed top-dog-host.
At one point we snapped the house key off in the lock and were locked out – within 10 seconds of texting Janus he was here with a replacement – What?!? Ok – for great advice or beaches, restaurants; make sure to read this journal– it was incredibly helpful. Here’s our highlights, tip + Tricks
Thanks Janus – can’t wait to see your next project!! Kev and Sue A huge thank you to Janus and his team for being there when needed and always available!
First we rented a car from Island Car rental, who Janus recommended. They were fantastic! We gave them a ride back from Vieux Fort to Soufriere. On the way they pointed out all the sights to see. They also helped us shop at Massy’s Grocery Store. Super Helpful guys!! We bought stuff to drink and small meals/snacks for when we hang out at the villa. We chilled the first evening we arrived, so we would be fresh for the next day. We wanted to walk into town and see the town. Wonderful people and very helpful. We talked with ‘’Bushman’’ and he was going to hook us up with a boat ride to see the batcave, sugar beach and hike up to the warm waterfall on Pitit Piton for $200. My husband got to snorkel and loved it at sugar beach. $50 just to get into the resort, we were at and extra for gear. We felt it was worth it since we had the gears w/ ‘’bushman’’ and local tour with escort. – 3 hours but well worth it! We walked from the Villa all down town to become familiar and then on the walk back we walked up the path to the Botanical Gardens and waterfall/baths. That was beautiful and a nice soak. The best place to go for a relax and informational tour was the Sulphur Springs and mud baths. It’s a few minutes drive south of Soufriere and a must! Tour is short but good and the mud bath makes you feel 10 years younger. We went up to Castries on a sunset tour, which was nice but probably wouldn’t redo. Fun and good view to check out the north part of the Island. We went to New Jerusalem waterfall and hot spring just up the road and are a must!!! Go during the week so you don’t get a crowd!!! The best meal I had (well we both had) was at hummingbird beach resort. I had the lobster and my husband had the steak. Best lobster I have ever had! $60 per plate Orlando’s was good but limited menu. Great owner, fun to talk to. Not always open so best to check first before making the trip. One day we went to the (ti-kaye resort and spa) with the Island divers. Crazy road to get there once off the main road past the capital, the canaries but beautiful views. We loved the beach!!! Heard the snorkeling was good too but got massages instead. The view from the couples massage room was amazing! Food was alright, the merlin appetizer was a must though! Best beach in my opinion sand wise sugar beach was great for snorkeling! Went by boat to Viceroy resort. We had a chef for the last night come to the house and cook for us. It was amazing and would do it again if we were staying longer. Janus hooked us up with an amazing time Best honeymoon vacation!!! From Heather and Jesse Bryant First thank you so much Janus for being a truly amazing host. We felt so welcomed by you and you were always so available for us when we called randomly all the time 😊 The Villa is absolutely gorgeous, and we enjoyed it as our ‘’home’’ for the week we were here for our honeymoon! We could not have asked for a better place! Also-This book is awesome! My husband Connar and I loved reading about everyone’s experiences. So much fun and very helpful!
We are very big beach people so of course we had to go to the beaches. First beach we went to was Sugar Beach. We thought it was nice but way to resort (snobby…lol) for us young honeymooners. If you’re looking for a gorgeous white sandy beach with an amazing view definitely check it out. We rented snorkeling gears here for $11usd each for 1 hour and it was nice but there wasn’t much to see in our personal opinion. Apparently Anse Chastanet beach has great snorkeling. We went to Anse Chastanet but ended up choosing to walk and stay at Anse Mamin twice. It was only about 10-minute walk from Anse Chastanet. We loved it. It was so nice and secluded and felt a bit more private. You can rent chairs for $15USD a chair and just stay all day. The food was awesome as well. We enjoyed the Garmet Burger one day ($28USD) and the fish burger ($18USD) the next. Highly recommend this beach. Oh! and they got an amazing banana deiquin. We also enjoyed the zip lining at Mourne Coubaril Estate. We made reservation online, but when we got there we realized it would have been cheaper if we had just walked in. It was super fun and we felt like it was a great way to see some awesome views. Worth the money in our opinion. We also had lunch there – was a buffet serving creole food- amazing. It was only $10USD each. Speaking of food- here’s a summary of all the places we went:- Martha’s Tables: YUM!! Amazing creole food. We loved it – ended up spending about $40USD for both my husband and I and that included 2 drinks and an appetizer-must go! Ruby’s: Nice and convenient – we walked down the villa both times we went. Honestly we felt like the prices were way to much for what you get. Go for Pier 28 in town instead. Pier 28: Similar food to Ruby’s- chicken Fingers, burgers etc… but for like half the price of Ruby’s. Definitely move of a bar feel but we enjoyed. Plus you get a great view of Soufriere ($7ish to $15ish a plate) Mango tree: We had planned on going somewhere more expensive like Jade mountain or Orlando’s but after our first time at Mango Tree, we realized that we had to go back. Amazing view, up scale fell and of course great food. This is a great place for a fancier meal. Dinner plates range from $20-40USD. Other tips: We loved having a rental car – however if you warned about driving on some tough roads you may want to get a driver. Locals are super nice. Ill encourage you to venture out in Soufriere a few times and walk around. I can honestly say that being in town and being amongst all of the amazing locals was one of my favorite parts of the trip. St. Lucian are truly amazing people. Along with going into town, definitely check out Eroline’s Supermarket- it’s fun to see the different things they have and cooking in the villa was a lot of fun. Don’t be afraid to call Janus for help- he was always so willing and able to help us – whether we were lost downtown in our rental car – looking for a particular attraction- he was always there to help! Well now that my hand writing has changed about 3x. Id better stop writing (lol) Thank you Janus and St. Lucia on a whole for making a very young newly married couple feel very welcome and safe on our honeymoon. We appreciate everything so much!! Now Back to Texas… Later Y’all Sarah & Connar Love Dallas, Texas, USA We arrived at the beautiful Serrana Villa after a stay at another Villa in the area. We loved the views and the feeling of being part of the community. Venture down the hill and into town. The locals are so welcoming!
This book was incredibly helpful when thinking about places we wanted to visit Our Favorites:
So sad to be leaving today but have so very happy memories of our stay in St. Lucia Huge Thanks to Janus and the Team The Hodgson Family Briston UK. Thank you Janus- an ambassador for St. Lucia. Warm, welcoming and a champion of his country plus a clever entrepreneur. We’re not going to outline to usual suspect as there is already enough.
Many Island Nature reserve – by Vieux Fort. Most a variety of rare birds +plant life. Access is restricted by organized tours through St. Lucia National Trust. Avoid $82EC PER PERSON. A boat ride takes about 5-10 minutes. 454-5014 or 7122966. The views enable you to see the south of St. Lucia together with the crashing waves of the Atlantic. Laborie- small history community with a pretty quiet beach – good if you want to stay away from crowds and tourist resorts Fond Doux - $10 usd pp tour of coffee, banana, mango, citrus, coconut plantation including snacks. The guide ‘’Clinton’’ was so enthusiastic, we thought he might erupt like a Piton. This enthusiasm was infectious and we land this to with the better tour the hotel du chocolat ‘’heskey’’ owned operation. Anse Cochon beach (ti-kaye next)- $10 entrance + $6 to sulouges , $10 towards your lunch. Uncrowded and beautiful. Plenty of shade. There was less of the institutionalized resort segregation that exist in Sugar Beach Place Kassav (Anse La Verdire)- Bakery producing mouth-watering cassava bread with smoked herring, salfish to sweet-delicacies such as anomies, chocolate, ginger. A hearty snack - $3 usd Very lush and tersely island with a stray creole culture. Thank you May _ Alex Fues London, UK |
