Our eight day “home away from home” was wonderful!! The villa had everything we needed. The location is perfect! In fact, I’m not leaving (you can’t make me…okay maybe you can 😊 ). I can’t say enough about all your drivers. They are prompt (very), reliable, but most of all very nice and informative. We were too wimpy to drive on the left so we had drivers for everything we could not walk to. If you can drive comfortably here, I would. That is our only regret. Although the drivers were always available, we would have enjoyed the freedom to explore (maybe next time)..
As far as what to do, we agree that Tet Paul is a must. We didn’t get to the waterfall (next time). We loved sugar beach and anse chastanet. We paid $100 at sugar beach for the chairs and shade. It was comfortable and relaxing and for us it was worth it. We also stayed overnight one evening at Anse Chastanet Resort. We do that every time we go away (stay somewhere else one night). We had dinner at Jade Mountain ($500 dinner, but with good wine). It was very nice and the food was excellent. Also the beach restaurant there has excellent plantain and sweet potato chips with guac! Next time I would like to spend a day at Anse Mamin. We walked there for exercise but didn’t’ stay. It was very pretty and I hear the burgers there are the best. I should also mention we did a sunset cruise (Mystic Man Tours $66pp). the was def a highlight. It was so much fun! We saw so many dolphins, great must, not crowded, finger foods and plenty to drink. If we had more time I would do one of their day excursions. Now our favorites…dinner 😊 Dasheene – Views were amazing!!! Food was not. Music was great both times we went. So…, go for drinks and apps and the music. Boucan – Great Views, great food “Except curry chicken, not good). They put chocolate in almost everything so really, lest be honest, how bad could it be (Lava choc cake was amazing). Jade Mountain – Great views, great good and service $$$... Petit Peak – Walkable (Although we didn’t). only place open on good Friday. Fun little place on the water. Food was okay but not great. Had an island feel so we liked that. Hummingbird – Food was good, not great. Planned to go to Orlando’s but it was closed. Good service. Lunch at Sugar Beach Tapas – Great lunch (twice). With great views. Relaxing! Mango Tree – Great Views and great food. The fish of the day was fantastic! Beautiful views, nice servers. Went here on our last night but wish we did it earlier because we would have gone back. We at breakfast at Serrana Villa most days (shopped downtown first day). Enjoyed having quiet breakfast out at the beauty of St. Lucia. Janus and his team were fantastic. (Hopefully one day he can come to beautiful Cap May NJ and we can reciprocate 😊 ). We really enjoyed our “Talks” with Janus!! Good luck with everything. Until Next Time. Mike + Susan Cap May NJ Janus and his team were absolutely wonderful. Super friendly and outgoing. Janus answered all of our questions and always encouraged us to call him if we needed anything.
We only needed one of his drivers, but he was chatty and understanding when we needed to hit the ATM to pay him because we run out of cash. If we hadn't rented a car we would definitely used his drivers with more than 100% confidence. Quick Overview Best burger - Anse Mamin @ Anse Chastanet Best Overall Ambience/experience- Bayside @ Sugar Beach Vest Views - Dasheene @ Ladera All non-resorts will accept USD & ECD Beaches: Sugar beach was amazing. Beautiful white sand, clean and very helpful staff. Tthe road is 100% better than the road to Anse Chastanet. Beautiful views right between the Pitons and the water was much calmer there. The free benches are to the right, they look like regular pool chairs and are in the shade. However, it seems like alot of people smoke there and if you don't want that, there’s a tiny patch of shade by the outside Bar. It's $50 USD to get a day pass for a resort chair, umbrella or in the sun. Mixed drinks are a must, $16 USD i think, you can also order smaller food from the chairs. shuttle never asked for proof that we ate or spent money at the resort. Anse Chastanet was very small but filled with resort chairs, we followed the waterfront road to Anse Mamin and it was bigger and much more space. The sand at Anse Mamin was softer and had public space in the shade. Look like a tropical beach, very pretty. A day pass for 2 resort Chairs $120 USD. Views from the beach were nothing special. The road there HORRIBLE!! FOOD: Bayside at Sugar Beach is very pricey but everything is going to be pricey when doing anything at the resort especially when you add alcohol. Bayside is right by the beach. The view is great, you're completely in the shade, there are multiple ceiling fans, it is very comfortable to set and people watch while you eat, service was great and the food was excellent. Anse Mamin has burgers from $23-28 USD, depending on what you get you could split a large and be satisfied. Their buns are amazing, a whole wheat flat biscuit style. Honestly a really good burger with unique taste i haven't had in New York. Ruby's Pizzaria & Grill is open until after 3pm, most places seem to close by 3pm in town. Google says it's open 3pm-11pm but a hanging sign at the place says 11am-11pm. No one was ever there when we went/drove by so it looks closed but it's not. It's open every day except Mondays. Wide selections of food and a nice atmosphere outside when they turn on the Xmas Lights. A basic peperoni pizza can be shared by 2 and is about $9.25 USD but meals can be into the $30-$50 USD range. The staff and Chef are friendly. Cash in both USD/ECD are acceptable as well as credit cards. Fedos is Super Close by to walk to from the Villa. Very cheap and by portions but most importantly it was a good cash only. Dasheene At Ladera had the most beautiful views while dinning. Food was good, similar prices to the other resorts dinning lunch hours. Waitress took lots of pictures for us and went above and beyond (moving the awning and stuff on the table) to help get us a good picture. There was a sign that said it would be a $25 cover change if you just wanted to take pictures or just have drinks. Lunch was delicious. THINGS TO DO!!! Botanical Gardens: Did not do mineral bath, very crowded and looked like it would be similar to sharing a hot tub with 20 strangers. Not my kind of thing. Would have been nice to see the waterfall but oh well we spent an hour there (including having a little snack at a gift shop). We did a self tour but i think a guide would be worth it. We over heard some of the guides during our walk and they had cool info on plants/trees/fruits. It's small but worth the visit, $17.50 EC just to see the gardens/person. Volcano tour – Short (less than 20 minutes but you barely do any walking but was very interesting and informative. Our guide entertained and answered my various questions and was very knowledgeable about the island as a whole. We did the mud baths as well and it was surprisingly fun. I didn’t think hot springs on a hot day was going to work but it was relaxing. The mud is a bit hard to wash off, but the staff that were there to help were very funny and very helpful. Don’t remember the cost -could have been about $30 EC for 2. It’s a fun experience but the mud areas is small and could easily get crowded quick. Snorkeling - Went at Sugar Beach and we loved it! I have never been snorkeling before so i can't compare it to any other locations but it was fun. Lots of various kinds of fish and coral $10 USD/person for a mask and mouth piece $20/person all day Until 4:30pm. Flippers are extra but aren't necessary if you're staying in just the area located by the public beach part. The $10 gets you an hour of use. The ATM The Bank Of St. Lucia Didn't work for us, we had to go around the back to basically the other side of the building to the other bank in town (I forgot the name, Caribbean something maybe?) That one works! It's one street closer to the water after church street. $5 USD fee o withdraw. There's a big blue and yellow building nearby, which also has a pharmacy where you can buy candy/small snacks, hair/bath products, medicine and sunscreen. The Pharmacy Takes cards. Had a wonderful stay here, The Villa was absolutely Fantastic! CHEERS! Honey & Ben New York Serrana Villa is the only place to stay in St. Lucia tucked away in a residential corner of Soufriere with all the sounds and smells of local life!
Janus is super friendly and easy to talk to and is a true Super host. Wondered around Soufriere many times meeting some very interesting local characters and just soaking up everyday life. Tet Paul Nature Trail was an easy short trail with a very knowledgeable guide and spectacular views. Visited Laborie Beach and virtually had the whole beach to ourselves. Watched a local cricket match (ground right next to each) Saw local fishermen at work and chilled out in beach bar called Salt Rush. Diamond Falls & Botanical Gardens is lovely and cool with some amazing plants and birds and worth the visit. Rainforest Adventure Zip line tour is a fun way to learn about the rain forest. Situated in Chassin in the Babonneau region of the Island found in the North-East part of St. Lucia. Our guide Terry and Akim were awesome and explained so much about the rain forest eco system as we zipped from Tree to tree. Our Safety and well-being was their first priority, and I would highly recommend this trip! Atlantic Shores Horse Riding is worth a visit if you fancy riding horses on the beach as we did. It is situated on the other side of Vieux-Fort past Hewanorra Airport. The staff are friendly and constantly checking to make sure everything is okay. The horsed are well cared for and are a joy to ride. Our guide was excellent and took time to answer any questions we had and made the whole experience memorable! Morne Coubaril Estate Tour lasted 30 minutes and gave you a brief insight of plantation life both past and present. Choiseul Art Gallery is on the main road heading towards Vieux-Fort, It is run by Hattie Bernard who paints, writes and makes Crafts. Hattie is very friendly and easy to talk with, most of her arts is inspired by St. Lucia Jane & Neil From England |
WEATHER IN SAINT LUCIA
