Serrana Villa was perfect place to stay for two couples!
We arrived late and went to Petit Peak for our first meal. The food was delicious, very reasonably priced! We would have gone again, but we cooked a lot of meals at the Villa. The Castries Market was great! I definitely recommend going for souvenirs and food, but don’t forget there is a local food market in Soufriere ever morning, and a bigger one held down by Whispers on Saturdays! On the way back from Castries we stopped in Marigot Bay (Where they filed Dr. Doolittle) for a drink. Also on our way back we stopped at a stand in the Banana Plantation and bought fresh bananas, papaya and guava. Which we later made smoothies with! The rum distillery was a fun stop. We didn’t do the tour, just the tasting, which was $4.00 USD and it was a rum free for all! Definitely go if you’re a rum drinker. Anse Chastanet Beach was fun. We went three times. One for sunset swim, Day Snorkeling and Dinner at Aspara. Aspara was amazing! An Indian fashion restaurant. The best cheesy Naan ever! Make a reservation. It was about $140.00 USD for two, totally worth it, so romantic! Go walk down by the waterfront in Soufriere town. Don’t be intimidated by the locals. They may ask for food or money, but they do take NO for an answer. Look for pepto, his boat is named Bismol and pink inside with a green roof (lol). We were going to go on a boat ride, but got busy, we wished we had. There are bat caves and black sand beach. He offered us a ride for US$25.00 per person. Diamond Falls, Mineral Baths, and Botanical Gardens are very close and worth it. Don’t get a guide. They open around 10. We got there at 9:45am and had the baths to ourselves. Must go to Zaka’s coffee shop+Art Studio, near Petit Peak. Don’t buy coffee at the store or drink the stuff here in the cupboard. If you’re a coffee drinker you will appreciate these beans! The owner is super cool too! (Zaka) Sugar Beach was the most beautiful beach in my opinion. We also snorkeled there on the first day and the second time we went we rented paddle boards. When you arrive to the beach at the gate tell them you are patronizing and you will get a ride down from the parking lot. And upon leaving, show them a receipt (for rentals or drinks) and they will bring you back up. For two drinks after tax plus tip was USD$40.00. Go to a few local bars. Any of them. Happy Pizza (?) Down by Whispers with blue lights out front was super cheap! All of the locals are very friendly and welcoming. Hike Gros Piton! Get there early! We were he first one up the mountain that day (arrived at 7am) Mia was a great tour guide! A challenging yet rewarding experience. Have a relaxing day planned for the following day as you will be sore! Piton Waterfall near Martha’s Table was so warm! Don’t need a guide although one tagged along with us and he took pictures and cracked a coconut for us. Tipped him US$3.00. go to Martha’s Table (only open 12-3 on Weekdays) and get bread fruit ball!! Everything was so good! The meat market + Grocery Store in town are super helpful! (And Bakery). We are more than happy with our stay here as Serrana Villa and our lovely host Janus! Our first time to the Caribbean and we will be back! Becca and Matt Comments are closed.
