"Staying at Serrana Villa was such a wonderful way to experience St. Lucia!"

9/25/2016

Staying at Serrana Villa was such a wonderful way to experience St. Lucia! It was great going into Soufriere town, buying produce and living like locals.

Highlights Of Our Vacation:
  • Castries Market – About an hour drive north. Great for Souvenir and Fruit Shopping! Stop at Marigot Bay.
  •  Rum Distillery near Marigot Bay (Go on a Full Stomach as booze is plentiful  )
  • Sugar Beach – Amazing Beach! Was not too busy as it is slow season. Snorkeling was great ($10.00 per person). You can get shuttle to and from beach if you keep receipt for drinks/food or rentals (Keep in mind food and drinks at resort are expensive - $14.00 USD per drink) After tax we paid $40.00 for two drinks!).
  • Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens – Beautiful walk + Waterfall. You don’t need a guide. You can’t swim in this waterfall but the mineral baths are awesome (Go early to beat the crowds).
  • Anse Chastanet – Also snorkeled there and it was fantastic! Look for a local to rent you gear at cheaper price (resort is 11USD PP/H).
  • Toraille Waterfall – Right up the road from the villa. You can swim in this one! Entry is $3.00 USD/PP
  • Sulphur Springs – Very hot mud baths, but makes your skin feel great!! Go around 5pm and they may let you walk around the volcano even if you only purchased a mud bath ticket.
  • Gros Piton – A strenuous hike! Start early (we went at 7am). The views at the summit face south and are well wort the effort! (You will not be able to see Petit Piton at the top)
  • Piton Waterfall – warm waterfall pools, very relaxing! You don’t need a guide (They will probably try to take you, then ask for tips).

Restaurants:
  • Petit Peak – Right in town by the water. Casual, local cuisine and reasonable prices!
  • Belle View – Also in town, however food was not great. In our opinion don’t bother.
  • Martha’s Tables – Awesome Food! Reasonably priced. Only open on week days for lunch! (11:30-3) – Must buy their breadfruit balls!).
  • Boucan Restaurant – AMAZING!! The food, service, atmosphere was all incredible! Highly recommend. Make reservation.

Eroline Grocery Store in town is pretty well stocked and the meat market nearby is good. We took advantage of both frequently and made meals at the villa. We also bought produce at the local street market!

On another note, locals are extremely nice and helpful – just be careful of some who will ask you for money/food. Just tell them you’re good and they will leave you alone.

Janus is amazing and an exceptional host! We had a great vacation and now are leaving with some wonderful memories!

    WEATHER IN SAINT LUCIA
While most places in the world have four well-defined seasons, its proximity to the equator means that this is not really the case for the island of St. Lucia.
