Day 1: Arrived late afternoon. Had dinner at Orlando’s such a great culinary experience. We found they had best service (very attractive). Best dessert we had!
Day 2: Started the day at Sulphur Springs around 9:30 am. It was nice and quiet. Also, the vendors there actually have very reasonable souvenirs (some of the items were the lowest cost I have ever seen). We then tried to use our car to go down the grassy road to (Sapphire Falls + Superman Falls). BAD IDEA! Park at the top (road entrance to Sulphur springs) and walk down. Wear shoes/ runners. When we got to the Superman Falls entrance there was no one around so we just kept on walking down that trail 10-12 mins and enjoyed the waterfall all to ourselves. For lunch we had (Martha’s Table). Cheap rum + coke, good food and friendly server. Her son was around for spring break and he was adorable. We really enjoyed chatting with the young ones in the area and getting to know the people. After lunch we went to (100 step beach). Take the left at the green fence right after Martha’s Table and drive until you see the steps. It is a rocky beach but there is a little spot to lie down towels. We found lots of beach treasures (shells) and had the whole beach to ourselves. For supper we went to Boucan. Their bread service and appetizers were a hit. We weren’t blown away by the main meal. The lava cake was pretty good. We learned quickly that they do not like when you “complain” even a tiny bit. We ordered a papaya Prosecco Bellini and it was slightly warm/ no flavor/ not fizzy. The server was not pleasant when we respectfully told her it wasn’t enjoyable. Day 3: We went zip lining in Dennery with Tree Top Adventures. It was fantastic!! Aim to get there about 10:30/11:00 as the cruise ships will be done by then. We then had lunch at Nikki’s. At Nikki’s there are three stands offering the same food. The views are outstanding!! The food was very yummy, we had fish and chicken from the 1st vendor/ plantain and chicken from the 2nd vendor and fried bread at the 3rd vendor. All were fantastic, and drinks were super cheap. We had lunch for approximately $6 US a person and that’s with a drink each! Note: If you ass a stand near the banana plantation on the road to Dennery do not stop their Souvenirs/Sauces were the most expensive and would not bargain. That night we had supper at Humming Bird. We found it to be pretty good for a “resort” restaurant. Main fish dish was similar (in taste, presentation etc.) to Boucan. Shrimp was tasty too. Their rum chocolate cake was to die for but had it a couple of nights later and it was dry (sitting for a few days?) Ask if its fresh before you order. Day 4: Tet Paul Nature Trail, a must do! Stunning views. Souvenirs were very pricey. Had lunch at Fedo’s very yummy, roti was huge (we got it as an appetizer but could only eat 1/4) Went to Toraille Falls about 4pm and we were the only ones there. For supper we went to Jade Mountain. Best dining experience of our lives! Aim to be there between 5:30 so you can enjoy the spectacular views. Our server Lester was awesome (we found out he owns Ponty’s Pizza which we ate at later that week) Day 5: Went to Sugar Beach for the day. We had a couple’s massage booked for later in the day, so they let us use the shuttle for free. Aim to arrive at 10/10:30am and we highly recommend purchasing the loungers at $50 US a person (never thought I would say that) it was so worth it. It was quieter and more comfortable, and they will serve you food + drinks right to you. You are also able to use their beautiful restrooms and floating tubes in the ocean (loved those things) Aim to book a massage around 3:30pm and you feel rested/relaxed before dinner. Couples massage and spa experience were such a treat! Oh, and food down at the beach was delicious (we had the spring rolls (the best), seafood pizza, conch fritters and plantain chips (best dipping sauce). It was the perfect relaxing day and we felt like royalty 😊. Later that night we ate a Bamboo unfortunately portions were to small for the price, but it was tasty and service was nice, (drinks were weak though) Day 6: Botanical Garden+ Diamond Falls. Enjoyable peaceful stroll. Very informative sighs (we did the tour ourselves) and great souvenir selection. Went to Anse Mamin for burgers so delicious! jerk chicken was good. That night we had Ponty’s Pizza very good. TIPS & THINGS WE LEARNED… • Honking is a way of saying “hey, what’s up” • The smoothie kayak guy that pulls up to the publics ide of sugar beach serves the most amazing smoothies ever. We had pineapple /guava/passion fruit smoothies it was to die for!! • Guinness beer is stronger than in Canada and Heineken is the same. • Shandy’s are amazing and addictive • Chairman’s reserve spice is the best (you can’t go wrong) • Ask for Ben (the boat is called chocolate) if you want to up Petit Piton he offers to d it $100 EC per person and Lester told us he is a good guy. Thank you, Janus, for a wonderful time. We can’t wait to be back and next time we will bring our son. Your island has treated us well and is truly a slice of paradise. Till we meet again, Ryan and Morgan North West, Canada Comments are closed.
