For our Honey-moon we search and searched for a destination. Once we saw pictures of Serrana Villa, our search ended. We kept thinking – this is too good to be true. But when we arrived, it was nothing short of Paradise!
First and foremost – Janus is awesome! He gave us such a warm greeting when we arrived and is so excited to share his Villa and home of St. Lucia. All of his drivers are Super friendly and have great recommendations. Speaking of… we referred to this very book on what to do: Day 1- Friday (12/9): We were greeted at the airport by one of the drivers which took us to the Supermarket to grab some essentials. He told us about the towns that we passed through on the way to the Villa. We stayed close to the villa for dinner and went to Ruby’s (…it wouldn’t be the last time ). Day 2 Saturday (12/10): We cooked breakfast and walked down to the market at the fishing dock which is only open on Sat (get there early btw 8-9, it closes around 10). There are local fruits, fish, meat. Etc. We met Simon (bus: simon says) Who gave us a lot of information on things to do. We booked the Sulphur Springs tour which included the Drive through the Volcano, Sulphur Bath (mud bath), waterfall, lunch @ Fedo’s + Sugar Beach. This was an awesome way to start our vacation! Simon offered $80/pp (us), we nigociated $60/pp which is what we later saw on his website. Day 3 Sunday (12/11): It rained all day, but it was quickly realized on other mornings not to be discouraged by the morning showers. They usually end by 8:30- 9:00am (Dec. is the tail end of the rainy season) We watched football (Go Panthers) and went to Ruby’s for dinner. We got Calamari and fish fingers. We got to talk to the owner about cocktails and he recommended a Black Russian + Rumwith Basil drink. He also recommended a banana dessert which was Phenomenal! Everything all together was $69.00 (US) Day 4 Monday (12/12): We made breakfast at the villa. We planned to head to Anse Chastanet for the day. When we walked down the drive way we say Janus and Elma who offered us a ride to town. They recommended a water Taxi to Anse Chastanet, so we went to the water taxi at the dock and negotiated from $40/$30 (us) round trip (pay on the way back). We packed Sandwiches, Rum + Coke and water to save $$. Chairs to rent are $11/pp (us) without umbrella. We got a couples Massage at their spa which was amazing. That was $242. For Dinner, we went to Pitit Peak. It was good, but pricey – 2 entrees + (2) Pitons , (2) Rum Punch for $75.00 (us). Day 5 – Tuesday (12/13): Holiday (town is mostly shut down). Went to ZAKA’S for coffee + smoothes (amazing). We scoped our Souvenirs for the trip there. Simon and Leigha are Super friendly and creative. They showed us the Coffee making process which was cool. We walked around town and then to the Botanical Gardens/ Diamond Falls. The Gardens tour was $28 which included a private mineral bath. We went to Ruby’s for lunch which was pricey @ $43 (US). But we also got Pizza later for dinner which was less than $10.00, Lunch was a fixed menu (soup entre, drink) and dinner, many options. Day 6- Wednesday (12/14):4 We arranged fishing through Simon Says. We had a local fisherman (Francis) take us deep sea fishing in his Canoe. We went throwing (no rod/reel) held the line and caught (2) small tuna + (1) King Fish. Fortunately, we had good weather- otherwise would have been dangerous. Francis took us to his home where one of his friends showed us how to Fillet our fish. Francis seasoned the fish for us which was such an awesome local experience. We had (3) meals from the fish. Simon priced us $280 (US), but we negotiated down to $160 (us). We didn’t realize Janus recommended Mystic Man which is a safer option. They are located right by the water Taxi’s. We went to Fedos’s again for lunch which was amazing. We got the Chicken Roti + Caribbean Chicken. Cheap + Awesome! After we went to Hamming-bird – chairs were $5 (us)/pp. Would not recommend (dirty water + average snorkeling) We snorkeled out to the bat cave. Day 7 – Thursday (12/15): We set up transportation through Janus for the Gros Piton Hike. The Hike itself is strenuous, but totally worth the views. You’ll need self-motivation at the top of the hike. Just keep going! Damaskus was our guide and Super Nice. We got ice-cream at the end of the hike. Totally recommended the banana flavor! No need to book in advance w/ anyone outside Janus. Guide are provided atethe Mountain for U.S$35.00 pp. After the hike we went to Martha’s Tables which was our Favorite Restaurant . We got the creole fish + chicken. And Pitons to take to Sugar Beach all for $60 (US) -7 Pitons . And then we went to Sugar Beach for Sun and awesome Snorkeling. We got a drink from the Fruits Guys $8 (non)/$10(alcoholic). Chairs are free unless you want the resort side which is #50/PP (US). Damien took us everywhere (9:00am-4:00pm for $50.00(us) booked via Janus. Day 8 – Friday (12/16): We went to Fedo’s for breakfast which was cheap + simple. Went back to Zaka’s for a smoothie. We got (2) bags of coffee, small painting + a mahogany mask for $200 (US). We booked a snorkel + Sunset Cruise w/ Simon Says. We stared at 1:00pm a little south of Soufriere, then to Sugar Beach and our last top was north of Anse Chastanet . We were provided 6 beers for 4 people – not really practical. Snorkeling was good at Sugar Beach but disappointing overall. Dropped off before Sunset. $60/pp (us). We hung around the Pier 28 bar at the harbor to watch the sun set, then ate dinner at Pier 28. We had terrible Service, food was good (burger/fries), 2 mixed drinks @ $79 (EC). Super Cheap! Day 9- Saturday (12/17): Ate Breakfast at Angel’s Restaurant & Bar for $19(EC). Super Yummy! Grabbed Sandwiches at Deja Vous to go to the beach. Took a water Taxi to/from Sugar Beach for $100 (us) negotiated down from $60 (US). Went to Boucan at Hotel Chocolat for Dinner. Phenomenal!. We got (2) drinks, (1) appetizer, (2) entrée, (1) dessert, all for $166 (US). Highly recommended the ‘’Tuna Tartar app + Pork Tenderloin Meal! Day 10- Sunday 12/18): Rained most of the fay, so we went to Ladera for Lunch. Amazing views and good food! We got the Buffet and (2) Piton for $100 (US). Then we went to Ruby’s Again for Pizza and Calamari! This trip was By far the best we could have hoped for, for our Honey-moon! Janus was Amazing, the house is Amazing, Everyone is so friendly + St. Lucia is Beautiful! We could not ask for more! We will be Back!
