DAY 1 Arrival! Rented a car through Islander Car Rentals. Smooth process. Janus set up a guide to meet us and help us navigate back to the villa which was so helpful. A stop on the way at Massey for some basics for the we was helpful. After a long day traveling we wanted to eat somewhere close- Janus recommended the Sports Bar at the end of the road to the villa- Used to be Ruby’s. We really enjoyed this! Loved the fig Salad! 😊 DAY 2 Soufriere tour with Ian. Great way to start the trip. Ian was a wonderful guide. Tet Paul Nature Trail. Easy hike & gorgeous view. Don’t miss this while here! Botanical Gardens & Waterfall- peaceful, serene, very pretty. Glad we did this. Maybe would opt to go fine some less touristy waterfall next time. Volcano & Mud baths. Worth it!!! Felt amazing. This evening we wondered through town by foot, met some local people- all very nice- talk to Martin if you see him & buy something from him. We found skippers today. Go there & try their peanut pinch. OMG!! Yum!!! DAY 3 Road trip day. Drove the coast up to Pigeon Island. An adventure for sure. Roads are very hilly, narrow at times. Don’t forget to down shift when on those hills. Castries was too busy for us- stopped at the beach bar for apps & Piton at Pigeon Island- great little spot. We like Soufriere Best though. Possibly would skip the road trip next time. Dinner at Pitit Peak this evening. Wonderful food, reasonable price, nice views & Piton on top. We enjoyed! DAY 4 Anse Chastanet + Mamin- gorgeous. Snorkel here was nice. Us$12 pp for an hour. Friendly staff. Good amount of colorful fish & coral. Water was calm. The walk to mamin along the waterfront to the right of Anse Chastanet took maybe 5 minutes, worth it! Quiet & beautiful beach with bar. Next time I’d spent more time here. DAY 5 Hiked Pitit Piton. Wow! This is a climb. Not one for the faint of hearty. Left at 8am returned about 10:45am. If you do this you must take a guide. We met a local guide the evening before, cost about us$100 for both of us. Bring lots of water, good shoes with grip and if you can gloves. There are many ropes along the trail you’ll use to pull yourself up. It can get rough on the hands. The views though- like nothing else ive seen before. Worth it. Do it if you’re in shape! DAY 6 Jungle biking at Anse Chastanet/ Jade Mountain. The guide gave us a nice tour, then when oriented to the trails you can bike on your own as long as you want. Bikes aren’t in the best shape but we enjoyed ourselves. Several short trails that are easy to intermediate . Got a nice biking jersey (purchased) as a souvenir to take home 😊 DAY 7 Lazy morning at the villa. Nice. Sugar Beach afternoon. Took the shuttle, prepared to pay US$50.00 Per person fee but didn’t have to . Maybe being the slow season but we were told to simply present a receipt from the restaurant & bar to the shuttle on the return trip. Unfortunately no one asked to see a receipt. We enjoyed bbq pork ribs & an appetizer trio at the beach restaurant . Snorkel here was very nice too. Comparable to Anse Chastanet. DAY 8 Pick-up for home. We’ve had a wonderful stay. Janus has been a wonderful host. We used whatsapp to communicate and he was always available within minutes. One day our car battery died and within minutes he had help sent to the villa to jump start the car. Janus sent bread to us the day we arrived and took time to show us around to his to his other villas. Beautiful!!!
Also Chef Ramsey- wonderful!!! Best meal we’ve had here by far!! Absolutely must hire him at least once while here. Worth every penny. We had the garlic butter seafood. OMG!! Nothing really I’d change about this trip and no doubt that we picked the right location. Perfect Villa & Best host To help us celebrate. Thanks for the memories Janus, and we hope to make the trip back one day!! Christian & JD. Chris & Zoe
Scotland Annual Holidays Food: whilst on Island we went to the following for Dinner. Hotel Chocolat: Overall nice food & Great Service. If you want a view when dining book around 6pm, however will be quieter. Price wasn’t too mad but expect to pay over $100usd for 2 just for main & drinks. Dress nice – shorts okay- 8.5/10 Anse Chastanet: probably our least favorite to eat while here- menu wasn’t great, the food was actually nice and the price was fair but not par with other receptions- smart/casual shorty okay- 6.5/10 Sugar Beach: one of the nicest places to eat on Island, had both dinner In the great room & lunch at the Bay side. The great room is very fancy. Dress nice and men wear trousers & collar- food was fantastic. Comes with several pre course nibble. Don’t get water unless you really want it (us$15.00)- expect to pay a lot for 2 people easily over $200 usd (great experience) The Bayside is also very nice for food (more casual) I had the best Veal osso boco. Not as expensive but still pricey (shorts okay)- 9.5/10. *Please go* Jade Mountain- going tonight- looks spectacular – it will cost a lot- is smart dress code going around 6pm to get views of the Pitons at sunet. Activities Gros Piton- a very good experience- Don’t do it unless you are an average fitness as you will struggle. If you are fairly active as a person it is easy. We managed to reach the summit and back down in 2 hours 40 minutes. When you turn up you will be forced on a guide. You don’t actually need one. It’s a path, rocky all the way to the top and it’s the same path up & down. Cost is $50usd per person for a guide & she was too slow for us. The views are good but make sure you go on a clear day.- 8/10 Drive-in Volcano- Sound’s better than it is. Took us about 20 minutes to see the volcano and its cool but not all that exciting.- 6/10 Mud Baths- the better of the two activities. As you will spend more time here and can stay as long as you like. The pools are amazing (very hot) and its fun to spread the mud on yourself. Cost is US$15 per person for both activities and takes about 2.5 hours.- 8/10 Sugar Beach- go & experience this during the day, it’s a fantastic setting between the two Piton. Make sure you set aside enough time to enjoy it- especially if you buy the $100USD per couple. It is a public beach so its free to go & you can lie towels on sand. If you want bed its U.S$50.00 per bed- 8.5/10 Diamond Botanical Gardens & Waterfall- nice Gardens & some cool plants, if you like all things plants you’ll love it, if not the only thing you’ll like is the waterfall us$7 per person General Advice
Enjoy your stay Chris & Zoe Doug & Hilary
Aug. 22nd- 29 2019 Honeymoon & Babymoon (we bought a pregnancy test on your trip and it came out positive) Food Eat as much fresh fruit as possible while in St. Lucia, including from the property Janus welcomes his guests to pull fruit from the trees. Favorites- passion fruit, mangoes, guavas also try sour-sop juice! Check out Martha’s Tables for lunch (open until 3pm) very good creole food and rum punch. 10 minute drive Jade mountain club : unbelievably beautiful property but extremely difficult to get to it driving. Meal was very very good but also very expensive (US$300 for 2 people) if you go get there before sunset to see the views. Boucan: magical setting but food, service and value only OK. Private chef Ramsey: awesome! Best dinner yet (and least expensive) Ramsey made us authentic creole food and cleaned up after us. He was very pleasant and left us completely full and relaxed! Hummingbird- great authentic creole dishes for a very reasonable price (us$90 for 2 people including drinks) great service- the owner & chef take a lot of pride in making sure their guest are happy (went for dinner) Fedos: only open until 5pm and only accept cash. Stopped in for lunch- great creole food and awesome value (lunch for 2 was only us$17 and we left stuffed Mango tree” very tasty meals in a beautiful setting overlooking the sea & Pitons candle lit dinner and the stars are fully visible. Try the passion fruit ice cream! 8 min drive from here Summery: you don’t need to spend a ton of money to get food here. We did our research on restaurants on trip advisor before our trip and most of the highest making spots are also the most expensive. Almost every restaurants has a beautiful outdoor setting. So you wont go wrong there given the rough road conditions, its also worth cooking at the villa a couple nights! Tried making local dishes, the kitchen is full stocked with cooking supplies. Activities: Make sure to allow for enough time to lounge at Serrana villa- pool time (to sun set, stargazing etc. Rainforest Spa (Sugar Beach resort) this was the most incredible spa experience we’ve ever had! Highly recommend, especially for couples on their honeymoon, we did the ‘’romantic escape rituals’’ package will upgrade . truly magical Sugar Beach: we visited sugar beach following our spa appointment and were blown away by the resort property and the beach itself…stunning! Will be coming back later this week. Kieran Yacht Services. We went deep sea fishing in Marigot Bay with Kieran & Histwo crew mates, Pardo & earl. We had a blast caught a ton of Mahi Mahi and a few Jack Fish 4 hours of fishing for $550 and went cliff jumping! Got to take home a Mahi Mahi of our choosing and it was delicious. M=Note: Made it with just butter, salt and pepper. Anse Chastanet: Great snorkeling right off the beach. You don’t need reservation, can just show uo and rent for us$11 per person. Also need a us$50 cash deposit per person or can leave your keys in place of a deposit. Anse Mamin Beach: Beautiful, largely, private beach a 7 minute walk from Anse Chastanet beach. Go to this beach. Great bar & Grill right on the beach with amazing burgers overall we liked Sugar Beach, the best but based on the reviews of others we think our experience was so good in part, because we went straight from our spa apt to the beach. Other reviews have complained about being given hard time by sugar beach resort staff when trying to access. General Advice Local groceries store – Eroline’s (15 minutes walk) Fresh produce and fish sold early in the morning right next to Soufriere Beach Park Buy paper towels for house (not provided) USD/ECD and credit cards accepted most places, suggest always carrying some cash Don’t leave anything sweet laying out- the ants here will find it in minutes Wear sun screen! Drink rum punch! Try frying some beautiful ( in placed of Potatoes for breakfast- delicious! I just used Olive oil, salt & Peppers Try Barons Ketchup + Hot sauce- so good! Skinny dip Jacob & Kelsey -Honeymoon, august 2019
Day 1 Flew into UVF- 2:55PM, got picked up at the airport by one of Janus’s drivers (Mike). Mike was so friendly and helpful…he even let us stop by the Massey’s to pickup a few things! We recommend hiring someone to take you from airport to Serrana Villa. Roads are crazy! Janus met us at Serrana, after Mike was kind enough to take us through town and show us some fun spots. Janus gave us the tour of the Airbnb and was so friendly and helpful. After Janus left we sat and read these books to see what we wanted to so! So fun! We decided we wanted to have the private chef over the next night because of all of the wonderful reviews! Janus set it up for us, easy peasy! Spent the rest of the evening watching Netflix, cooked a frozen pizza we picked up from Massy’s then went to sleep! Day 2 We had breakfast @ the villa then walked into town for the ATM before heading to Anse Cahstanet. A local stopped us in town (trying to be nice) we chatted with him as he gave us a tour. $45ec’s later and we finally headed to Anse Chastanet. Moral of the story: be nice but say no thanks or else you will have $45ec’s less than what you got at the ATM. Anse Chastanet was nice. $12usd per chair but was worth it! The walk there and back is like a hike. Great exercise ! We came to the villa, swam and cleaned up before Chef Ramsey came and prepare us the incredible meal! Grilled seafood garlic lime butter sauce. Incredible! I couldn’t pick my favorite but Jacob said his favorite part was the fish & creole vegetables. It was all incredibly delicious! Day 3 We stayed at the villa most of the day besides walking to Zaka’s in town for lunch. The iced coffee was $6usd and smoothie was us$5. That night we went to Boucan by Hotel Chocolat. Wonderful meals, wonderful sunset view! 1 drink, 2 main entrees and a desert US$105. We highly recommend a day at the villa & enjoying Soufriere. Day 4 We woke up early & went to Sugar beach @ 9:00am. Mike dropped us off as close to the beach as he could and we shuttled the rest of the way. We took the shuttle for free because we planned on buying the day passes. We talked to 2 guests employees on our way to the beach looking to buy the guests passes US$50.00 per person. But since we got there so early, the restaurant wasn’t open to take our credit cards and proceeded to direct us to the hotel side of the beach. We were 1 of 3 couples there. So an employee told us we can sit In the second row with an umbrella (1st row reserved for guests at the hotel) it was still a good spot. Later on in the day they gave non hotel guests the option of the very back row or one of the chairs without umbrella, so happy we got there early to get a great spot! The employee who led us to our spot also said we would have to pay the us$50.00/chair once the restaurant opens. So we hang out, lounged and around lunch we went to ask for the us$50 day pass to buy food but the employee told us just use credit card to pay for food. We ended up ordering a pizza beachside and finally paid for the chairs when we paid for the pizza. Pretty sure that if we hadn’t ordered lucn that we would have been able to go for free. All in all it was US4150.00 compared to US$200. Because they only charged us for the 2 chairs not the day pass! Tip- get there early, so worth it! And take the shuttle because it is free if you buy anything there. People were very nice despite some reviews! Day 5 We went to Tet Paul @ 9:00am. Our tour guide was amazing and the views were breathtaking! Come back and hung out @ the villa until lunch we went to Fedos & Zaka’s again. Fedos was so yummy and cheap! Chicken roti & fish curry were great! Came back to the villa, swam until dinner. We walked t Valelse for dinner. Grilled chicken salad, chicken roti were both yummy. They also had burgers, sandwiches, drinks etc. walked back while Janus passed us on the way and took us to see his other properties and future properties. So fun and cool to see! They’re all beautiful! He dropped us back off at the villa and we hang out the rest of the evening poolside. Day 6 Last day, check-out @ 11. Going to mis Soufriere, St. Lucia and this place! We wouldn’t change anything about our vacation and loved everything we got the chance to do! Janus is an incredible host and he will help make your vacation the best it can be Colleen & Jon- honeymoon
Day 1: we landed at UVF and arranged a pick-up through Janus. Our driver was Super Easy to find and he was friendly. The ride to Our Airbnb was a little scary but worth it once we got there! Janus greeted us immediately and provided us with some eggs, juice and crackers since it was Sunday and all the grocery stores are closed on Sundays. We were hungry so decided to walk to Pitit Peak for food. We loved our bacon wrapped plantains! We also ordered a BLT and chicken wrap that were okay. We were just happy to be eating with views of the Caribbean. The locals were very friendly and helpful WITH DIRECTIONS. On the walk back to Our Airbnb it started pouring. We stopped at cool Breeze to buy some Piton for the night and headed back to relax for the rest of the night! Day 2: woke up to rain! One of Janus drivers took us to get groceries and then we walked to The Botanical Gardens- the waterfall was beautiful and well worth the $7 to get in. We were hoping to go to Jade Mountain for Lunch or sit at the bar but they were booked so we went to’ trou ou diable’ and split the tropical island burger and it was delicious! We walked to Tree House Restaurant next door and enjoyed a drink with a great view! We then had our driver take us to Hummingbird beach resort where we split the St. Jacques Shrimp and a pasta dish- both good! We walked back to the Villa after and enjoyed a bottle of wine under the stars! Day 3:Janus gave us tours of his other properties in the morning- they’re all amazing. We hiked Tet Paul Trail- highly recommend. Easy trail and great views/photo opps. We then went back to Serrana and get ready and another driver took us to Dasheene at Ladera for lunch. We had our best drink of the night called (screaming orgasm) My husband loved his burger and my seafood pasta was pretty good. The views was unbeatable! We then walked across for a drink at Boucan by Hotel Chocolat. It was good (especially if you love chocolate) we then got a ride back to Serrana by Janus and enjoyed the pool until chef Ramsey arrived. He cooked us pork with Pineapple and bananas and it was the best meal we’ve had thus far in St. Lucia. Tip – when sitting outside at night do not have ‘’pool light’’ on, on the porch, gets so buggy, we had to get in early because they were covering our clothes. Day 4: time to leave ☹ We enjoyed breakfast here while taking in the view and did some laundry. One of Janus’ drivers will be taking us to our next destination in Castries. Overall: Thank you Janus. You’ve been a responsive helpful host and we hope to be back some day Colleen & Jon Worcester, NA,US We; my wife and I, got here July 28th just before midnight from St. Moasten. Woke up to the sound of crickets, yard bards and grass hoppers. We stayed in for that entire day; by the way we received fresh bread from Janus’s crew for breakfast.
We had a rented car early the next day which was Tuesday and drove down to Soufriere town to do some grocery shopping. We did not do much else that day. The next day we drove to Castries but could not find a packing spot so we drove around for like 2—30 minutes and took our time back to Soufriere. We wet to Vieux-Fort the following day, made a few stops here and there just to get familiar with the place. You see we are from St. Moasten NA and we did not really shop except for a few items that we bought (extra virgin coconut oil, cocoa sticks, nut megs & turmeric) uch are pricey back home. We spend the next 2 days really relaxing, that’s what we came here for. Oh yes! Friendly and courteous people at every point that we stopped. The villa is excellent, clean and very quiet and Janus is just exceptional. Leaving tomorrow at 5:00am, heading back home; hope to visit again some sweet day! July 22- 28 Day 1- we flew in from Charlotte layover and arrived at UVF AT 2:30PM. After going through immigration we were greeted by out Islander Rental Car worker who set us up with our vehicle for the week. Emmett quickly acclimated to being on the opposite side of things and we headed to Massy Stores to get a few items (eggs, cheese, bread, Piton Beer etc.) for the villa, total us$120.00. We opted to purchase a GPS map of St. Lucia and this immediately gave us added peace of mind as we weaved our way from Vieux Fort to Soufriere. Wow. The views along the way are breathtaking and once we got to the villa we realized that the view from our villa is STUNNING!! Janus stopped by to show us the ropes and then we spent the remainder of the evening relaxing at the villa anticipating the adventures adhead. Day 2- Alright…realizing that there is too much fun to be had so to save time we will just be making some notes from Here on out… Boucan By Hotel Chocolat- Tree to bean and bean to bar experience… out tour guide Monique was great and we both enjoyed the knowledge and tasty treats aquired😊 Lunch at Boucan Bayside Restaurant was amazing and Unique. Sunset Catamaran Cruise through Mystic Man Ocean Adventures- walk down to pier, stopping at Zaka’s for fresh smoothies- US$5.00 each and delicious. Tour was beautiful and must do for sight-seeing, fun and relaxed mingling with other tourists. Dinner at Hummingbird Resort- relaxing environment, great pina coladas, food was flavorful and fantastic!...Better than Orlando’s Day 3- Tet Paul Nature Trail- Stunning Panoramic views of the island, a must do, especially if you don’t hike Gros Piton. If you can go on your own (with guide) that would be best (we got stuck with another US couple who’s constant commentary/jokes deterred from our experience) Diamond Botanical Gardens/Falls- if you’re plant nerds like us or simply enjoy being surrounded by pristine, lunch forest vegetation, then this is for you! Drover to Anse Chastanet Beach- brought our own towel and cooler with Piton Beers & water, got a nice spot on the left side of the restaurant (guest-beach). Rented snorkel Gears (us$12 per person)- WOW so many colorful fish!!! TIP-if you have beard the snorkel mask may not seal under your nose well ☹ Lunch at beachside trou ou diable restaurant- good food at a fair price, relaxed paced service Relaxed at the villa Day 4- Sugar Beach Resorts Rainforest spa- 9am appointment, got there early, parked in the guest lot and took a shuttle (free for spa guest)- incredible facilities and treatment, a true treat to feel pampered. Walked down to Sugar Beach and found a spot under a nutmeg tree for shade (aka free shade) Lunch at Bayside Restaurant on the beach – good food with a beautiful view Tip- beyond, the guest parking lot and tennis court, is a path up to an amazing overlook, a must do! Orlando’s for Dinner- expected a full menu but when greeted by the host/ waitress/bartender/busy-boy we’re told it was a fixed, 3 course meal that night for U.S $45 each. Decided to still give it a try and while the food was good, it didn’t meet our expectations at the price point… also due to only having the one woman working the front of the house our service was very slow and we realized another patrons were frustrated around us, creating a tense, unpleasant atmosphere. Would not go back. Day 5- AKA Road -Trip day 1 ½ hour drive to Rainforest Adventures Ziplining Canopy Tour @ 10am- crazy fun roads on the way and great way to see more of the island communities; our first time ziplining and it was so much fun 😊 Drove to Castries to check out the city vibes and Castries Central Market- fun to walk around and explore, talking to vendors and buying fresh fruit Lunch at a spot down a narrow alley filled with food vendors, tables and lots of locals filling up their lunch. Good food, BIG portions! Great value at US$6 per plate 😊 Headed back home, home made daiquiris with our fresh fruit from the market, snacked on our pastries from our local bakery and went to bed early to refuel for tomorrow’s adventure. DAY 6 - Hike Gros Piton Nature Trail- started early, 7am and were the first people on the trail which made for a peaceful ascent. Our guide was patient and knowledgeable. We both brought our hiking packs with 3 liters of water each and both finished our water on the way down. Prepare to get sweaty! Great views to the south, but ask your guide to take you to the other side of the summit for breathtaking views of Pitit Piton and Soufriere – wowza!!! Legs were like jelly by the time we made it back down (just under 4 hours) but every ounce of effort was worth the reward! Treated ourselves to homemade ice-cream to the bottom, delish! Quick shower at the Villa Lunch reservation at Jade Mountain Club- best service, wonderful cuisine and a spectacular panoramic view- super cool to sit back and see Gros Piton when we had just hiked it 😊 Lunch menu was reasonably priced so a great way to enjoy the facilities on a tighter budget Nap back at the villa Dinner reservation at Dasheene by Ladera resort for 6:15pm- cocktails in the bar lounge while waiting to be seated- beautiful view of the sunset and both pitons. Definitely worth booking a reservation- live music every night. Day 7- We planned on going to the beach (Anse mamin) to relax our final moring before heading home but we were rained out so instead hang out @ the villa and took our time cleaning up and packing our bags before driving to the airport. As many others mentioned, if things got off track relax and go with the flow 😊 Overall, an incredible trip in the most beautiful place and with friendly people. Hope to be back! Thanks Janus! One Love Rylee & Emmett Neal & Holly
July 15- 22, 2019 Honeymooners Day 1- we landed at the airport around 2:00pm. One of Janus’ drivers Alton was waiting for us at the airport and happily helped us with our bags and we proceeded to Soufriere. Unfortunately the stores were closed due to the holiday carnival but Alton took us to a gas station where we were able to load up on water beers and snacks. Once we arrived at the Beautiful Villa, We hang out by the pool on the patio. For dinner we headed into town and went to Pitit Peak- great view, food and service. Day 2- we woke up a little earlier today to head to the supermarket, It was a beautiful day on the island. We decided to lay low at our villa, and spent the day by our pool and tanning- the deck is a perfect spot. Later in the evening, we had chef Ramsey come to the villa to make us dinner. This is a must do! The food was amazing, he was so friendly and the price was very reasonable for the convenience! We ate the grilled chicken breast with ginger garlic sauce. Soooo good! Day 3 -We woke up to another beautiful day. We decided to go enjoy a beach for the day. We left for Sugar Beach around 8:45am, it was a quick 10 minute drive from the Villa. It was U.S $50 per person to get in but that acted as a food and beverage minimum. This beach was so quiet, had amazing service and beautiful views. The food here was so very tasty- we highly recommend their pizza and chicken sandwich. We headed back around 4pm and made dinner from stuff we bought at the supermarket. Day 4 -Mystic Man Tours!!! We were looking forward to this day our entire trip, we were a little bummed looking at the forecast because it was expected to rain all day. Luckily the forecast wasn’t accurate, it was partly cloudy and only rained for a quick 15 minutes. About a month before our trip we reserved a private catamaran with Mystic Man Tours. This was a full day sail (about 7 hours ) We departed at 9:00am and headed north for some snorkeling- we highly recommend snorkeling at some point while on island. After snorkeling we headed even further up north for some lunch at Marigot Bay. The view was breathtaking. After the boat tour. Alton was there ready to pick us up. We cannot say enough great things about the driving service- we would recommend utilizing this service during your stay! Day 5 - Today we did the Soufriere tour through Janus . This tour was about 4 hours and we hit a few different stops during the tour. We went to a look out point where you could see the whole city of Soufriere. We got great pictures here. Next we headed to Tet Paul Nature trail. We had an excellent tour guide who helped us throughout the hike. The hike was not difficult but by any means, we were able to do the whole thing in sandals. We then headed to Sulphur Springs where we did a tour and mud baths combo package. The tour at the volcano is worth checking out while here- the mud baths is a definite must- we finished the day at the botanical gardens. There was a beautiful waterfall there along with some amazing flowers. For lunch our tour guide brought us to Fedos- great local food- just note it is cash only there. Day 6 - today we had another relaxing day by our patio/pool at the villa. For dinner we went to Dasheene at Ladera Resort. This was by far our favorite place, the food, drinks, views were absolutely amazing. We got there around 3pm to have some drinks and watch the sun set. Our reservation was for 7:15pm and we were able to sit earlier round 6:45pm- We recommend making reservation in advance as it gets very busy around dinner time. Day 7 -Today we went back to Sugar beach and had chef Ramsey come back at night to make us dinner. This time around we had garlic seafood and garlic lime butter sauce it was absolutely amazing.Be sure to utilize this service while here. During the day after coming back from Sugar Beach . Janus took us around to his other properties. All of them are absolutely stunning. We already see ourselves booking another trip here soon! Day 8 - pack up and head home ☹ Janus we want to thank you so much for sharing your island with us and for being absolutely an amazing host- we couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Holly & Neal Kelsey & Brian
June 25- July 10 Must Do’s Activities: (in no particular order)
Food (again no particular order
Over all – Boucan & Sugar Beach were much friendlier/more accepting of non resort guest than Anse chastanet/mamin! Over all great stay here! Don’t be afraid to walk and ask people questions. Local are very friendly and want to share their island with you. Thanks Janus Brian & Kelsey Rachel & Nate 6/20-6/25
6/20 – Thursday Arrived around 5:00pm. Janus came to greet us and gave a tour of the villa. It so happened we arrived on a Holiday so no stores were open. But Janus was kind enough to bring us some eggs, juice and Mac & Cheese. Once we got settled we walked down to the Soufriere Ocean front. We found one open restaurant. Gem Mwen- enjoyed 2 Pitons and a very cheesy pizza for E.C $45. We’re totally in love with the villa. The view is spectacular. 6/21- Friday We got up this morning and headed to The Tet Paul Nature Trail. We heard it was beautiful but it really was breathtaking . We got a view of the Piton Mountains and also a panoramic view of the farmlands across the island. Our guide lisa was very knowledgeable and let us take our time to appreciate the view. After we took the car back to the villa and went by foot to Fedos. Both of us got the fish of the day (tuna) and fries. The staff was friendly the fish was okay. From there we decided to walk to the Botanical Gardens. It was pleasant. The variety of plants was impressive. You know it’s a botanical Gardens, haha. We had the falls to ourselves it was really nice to enjoy a moment together. Heads up- someone will be waiting for you at the exit to sell you beads. We then walked to town and stopped at Erolines for groceries and then headed back to the villa for the rest of the day. After so much waling we were very ready to relax by the pool. 6/22- Saturday We got up early and drove to Anse Chastanet. When we arrived at 8:00am, no one was there, really. Perfect time to snorkel. We rented snorkel gears for US$12 each for 1 hour. Swam around the roped-in portion, it was super cool. I tried to count all the different kinds of fish I saw but I couldn’t there were so many. After snorkeling we walked over to Anse Mamin and rented 2 chairs. Anse mamin was more peaceful and offered more space. 2 chairs were us$12 each, they were just chairs not under a cabana. Apparently to sit under a cabana was more but we chose 2 chairs and sat under the shade. It was perfect. Around 2 pm we walked back to Anse chastanet and ate at the restaurant there. It was really good and prices weren’t bad. After that we went back to the villa and chill. Th around dinner time we walk back to town. Walked by Orlandos and it looked pretty dead. We ended up at the Hummingbird beach resort and it was also not busy at all. We were sat right away. Hence we were still pretty full from lunch. We just got 2 cocktails. King fish fritters, a salad and finally chocolate rum cake with ice-cream, came to about $59.00. Food was good! Later that evening we both realized we’d gotten sun burns on our backs from snorkeling, we thought since it was so early in the morning we didn’t need sunscreen. Not the case. Lesson learned. 6.23- Sunday today we had planned on hiking the Gros Piton but we woke up to heavy rain outside, since it didn’t seem like it would stop we decided to try the hike tomorrow instead. Also apparently today and tomorrow was Carnival. There was a lot of loud music coming from town started like 6:00am. HAHA! We drove over to the Sulphur Springs to check it out. It was pretty cool. We just did the tour and skipped the mud baths. It smelled so bad. Our guide said rain actually makes the smell worse. Since it was raining so hard we gave up trying to do anything else and headed back to the villa. On the concrete road heading back to the villa I accidentally drove into one of the drains and got the car stuck. Woopps. We called Janus and he was there in minutes. He got some group to pull the car out. He told us it happens to everyone but I think he was just trying to makes us feel better. Haha! For dinner we went over to Boucan, our reservation was from 6:00pm which was perfect. We got to appreciate the gracious view before the sun set. Like others have said the food was amazing . I think the best thing we ate was the scallop appetizers, it wasn’t as expensive as I thought either. 6/24- Monday today the weather was perfect again. So we went to Gros Piton. Got there about 8:00amPaid the us$50.00 each and set off with our guide. Definitely got extra water at the refreshment stand. You will sweat a lot. Get some Pitons to. I regretted not getting once we got to the top. Our guide wasn’t overly talkative but she was nice and didn’t rush us. We took plenty of time at each of the rest stops on the way, it was definitely gets hard right before you reach the halfway mark. You will climb 2 stone staircases. Heads up this is pretty much what the entire second half is like. In the end it was very rewarding and we’re glad we did it. We’re also very glad we didn’t do it in the rain. Honestly we think it would have sucked. We got back to the villa around midday and relaxed by the pool. For dinner we walked back to Hummingbird. On the way we got caught up in the carnival parade. It looked like lots of fun. Lots of people dancing in costumes (and one embarrassing drunk white guy. Ooff) Dinner was good again, this time we tried the enterees. The shrimp in coconut sauce was amazing. This was our last day, leaving tomorrow morning. Everything has been great. We’re sad to leave. Thanks for everything Janus. |
