Diamond Falls includes three different waterfalls and the opportunity to enjoy incredibly relaxing warm mud baths before rinsing off in the waterfalls themselves.
Visitors will find that they can visit just the waterfalls themselves or take them in as part of the tour of the property’s botanical gardens, which are certainly not to be missed. The entry fee is quite reasonable, and if you want to see beautiful tropical plants and birds that absolutely astound and astonish, this destination should certainly be near the top of your list. From the rum punch to the plantation tour, there is much to enjoy about Fond Doux. The resort itself is rather quaint, but its natural setting makes it an absolutely wonderful place to visit.
Walking through the beautiful plants is a delight, and the ability to pick fresh island fruit right off the tree and eat it gives you a chance to see just why St. Lucian fruit is considered such a delicacy. There are ample opportunities for breathtaking photos, and most people who visit the plantation return with every visit to the island. While hiking Petit Piton is not sanctioned by the government, it is important to note that it is in fact legal. With that said, however, it is important that you are accompanied by a highly experienced guide if you decide to undergo this adventure, as the mountain is quite steep and is eroded in many places so that you have only a small rope to hold onto as you make the ascent. Vertical climbing is a big part of hiking Petit Piton, and while there are certainly impeccable views, a camera such as a GoPro that allows you the use of your hands is highly recommended. While Gros Piton is not an easy hike, for those who find a knowledgeable guide and who have the strength and endurance to make the hike, it is definitely an adventure unlike any other. Good hiking shoes are a must for this climb, and it is definitely not for people who are not in peak physical condition. If, however, adventure is your middle name, you will find yourself standing atop one of the highest point on the island with a view that few people ever get the chance to experience. Gros Piton is the only one of the Piton Mountains sanctioned by the government for hiking, and you will find local guides who are willing to help you ascend to the top so that you can see the majesty of Soufriere and the Caribbean from a truly remarkable vantage point. The Tet Paul Nature Trail is the number one activity in Soufriere, and with good reason. The trail is included in most of the island’s tours, and it is a great chance to see some of the beautiful flora and fauna that are native to the island. Throughout the tour, visitors will find themselves with some of the most beautiful views to be found anywhere on the island, and whether you are an amateur or a professional, you will find yourself taking out your camera almost constantly as you walk the trail. The walk itself averages around 45 minutes, and with the right guide, you can learn a lot about the island while having an absolutely amazing time. |
