BEST TIME TO VISIT ST. LUCIA

Every day throughout the year offer almost the same or something just a bit different and  worth experiencing.

This Caribbean wonder is truly magnificent throughout the year.  Whether you want to explore a volcano, relax on the beach, or zipline through the rain forest, you will find that St. Lucia is always inviting.
St. Lucia’s Climate and Peak Season
PictureSoufriere, Saint Lucia - Attraction Capital.
St. Lucia’s high season or peak travel season certainly means larger crowds, but it can also be one of the best times to visit.  The island’s traffic hits record highs when Canada, the United States, and Europe have cold weather or extended holidays.

After all, who wouldn’t want to escape the cold by traveling to an exotic island?  If you are looking to travel to the island during these periods, it is highly recommended that you make your arrangements as far in advance as possible in order to ensure availability and to secure the best prices.

It is worth noting that prices are higher during peak travel times, but you will find that there are always ways to get great discounts regardless of the time of year.

For example, booking a villa through Islander Villa Escapes, such as Serrana or Sargas Villa enables you to obtain discounts on the company’s other services, including tours and excursions, airport transfers, taxis, and rental cars.  Even with bigger crowds and higher prices, you will find that the months between December and April are the most popular for travelers looking to visit St. Lucia.

Off-Peak St. Lucia Travel
Just because these months are the most popular for visitors to the island doesn’t mean that they are necessarily the best times to visit.  You will find that the off-peak season offers much in the way of adventure and excitement while being much friendlier on the wallet.  While June through November offer a higher chance of rain and hotter temperatures than the peak season, airline and other prices drop by as much as 50%.  Rain showers in St. Lucia often come only briefly, and air conditioning and beach breezes make combating higher temperatures a breeze.  Keeping an eye on the forecast during hurricane season can help you avoid a poorly timed vacation, but these storms are quite uncommon.

Festivals and Other Events Can Be Quite Inviting

If you are torn about when to visit the island, it may help to look into some of the festivals and other exciting events held on the island.  For example, in mid-May the island is host to the St. Lucia Jazz Festival, which brings in music royalty from all across the globe.

Creole Heritage Month takes place in October and can be a great experience for journalists, history and culture lovers, and those with a curious and adventurous nature.

In July, the third Monday and Tuesday of the month are host to Carnival.  This event is huge for visitors and residents alike, as months of planning and preparation pave the way for a huge costume parade through the island’s capital of Castries.

There are concerts and parties for people of all ages, and a grand time is guaranteed.

Of course peak season also offers activities for travelers, including March’s Festival of Comedy as well as the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers, which is the largest trans-oceanic yacht race in the entire world.  This event starts with yachts departing the Canary Islands in November and culminates in their arrival at Rodney Bay at the beginning of December.

In short, there is no wrong time to visit St. Lucia.  There is always something exciting to see and do in this cultural hub, and the Caribbean is certainly always beckoning.  Whether you are looking to visit during peak season to escape the weather at home or seek to incur some major savings and enjoy a little more privacy by coming during the low season, St. Lucia is always ready and waiting for your arrival!
