We had a wonderful time in Sapphire 3! Fedo’s burgers and fish with creole sauce were amazing. Also recommend the chicken meal from the food truck by the bridge.
Many people in town will offer you rides, water taxi etc. make promises to no one, and have all your arrangements made through Janus. We visited a lot of the main attractions and had great experiences because we always left early (9:30am-10am) to avoid the cruise ship tours/buses. Above all, wear sunscreen. Thank you Janus! Love Alyssa + Anne Chicago, IL Our second stay at Sapphire for 2018. Unfortunately for only two nights, as it was booked up.3/12/2018
Our second stay at Sapphire for 2018. Unfortunately for only two nights, as it was booked up. Loved the place the first time and nothing has changed.
We’ve been to and eaten at most of the places mentioned throughout this book, but I don’t think anyone has mentioned the food truck beside the bridge on the main road. It’s on the south side of the bridge, opposite Whispers sports bar. Large portions of great local food for a great price. 2 can have lunch for $20 EC. (They’re closed Sun & Mon). Also, we stayed at the Hummingbird Resort for a few nights. It was decent but make sure to bargain on the price. $150- $175 US per night is ok (They’ll try for more). If you go there just for a meal, the food is good just a little too pricey. Hours before leaving we finally got to meet Janus. He has always been helpful and seems very nice in person. A few more days in this beautiful county and then back home! Enjoy! Robin & Amy Ontario, Canada The location of the apartment is perfect between the south and the north which is too crowdy.3/9/2018
Thanks to Janus for giving us some information on the Island. We spent one week to discover all the best of St. Lucia. The location of the apartment is perfect between the south and the north which is too crowdy. The renting of the car is a must if you want to go anywhere by yourself.
Let’s go back to the snow Quebec/ Canada. Sylvie and Danny Our trip of a lifetime is coming to an end! I don’t we could have fit in and more adventures if we tried! We spent a lot of time on ‘’Margories;; on Cas En Bas Beach up North. Higggniy Recommend for a Lowkey time getting to know locals, and traveling, Kite surfers. Possibly our favorite event was Horse Back riding from here to Donkey Beach.
We also spend a lot of time in Rodney Bay. The Mall and Marina area areas both have a lot of good restaurants! But primarily we visited a lot of beaches and resorts in this Gorgeous area of Soufriere. Anse Chastanet was one of our Favorites because they didn’t charge is to Enter. They had the best snorkeling and cocktail list. Sugar Beach had the most breath-taking views between the Pitons. We had dinner at their 5star resort during the sunset; it was really top norch service. You have to pay a $50 deposit on your day but it’s worth it. Also, the Sulphur springs and mud baths are a great way to connect with mother nature and the culture of this Island. They both are quite pricey and touristy but if you travel to the Pitit Piton Waterfall and Mineral baths it’s a little more -true to form. While you’re in Soufriere make sure to visit Fedos. Traditional food with lots of locals. Right place to immerse yourself. Enjoy! Highlight 1. Magories, Cas En Bas Beach 2. Anse Chastanet 3. Sugar Beach 4. Mud Baths @ Volcano Best advice – rent a car and see as much of the island as possible! But avoid Castries during rush hour 😊 Cait, Sam, Will & Steve-O Portland, Maine, USA This book has been a great help in terms of recommendations. We must have looked at it at least once a day!
After leaving driving licenses at home as one less thing to think about - not considering our plans to have a car. We were slightly concerned as to what we would be missing out on. However, enjoying this beautiful island without a car Is totally doable! We stared with a week in the north at Rodney Bay. Much more typically “Touristy” than here but well worth a visit if you get a chance. We stayed next to Reduit Beach - a lovely stretch of sand, plenty of watersports and space to relax. We’d recommend spinnakers restaurant on the beach for great food and Razmattaz Indian on the main “strip” - both very reasonable prices and good service. From Rodney Bay you can walk or take the 1A bus (heading to Gros Islet) to the marina. Lovely relaxing spot with plenty of cafes. We took a taxi to the Jump up Party, in Gros Islet on the Friday nigh – an unbelievable street party with great (very cheap) street food and a hearty rum punch! We also visited Pigeon Island - incredible views and a fantastic spot to each (the bar to the right of the entrance within a cavern). We took the 1A but to Gros Islet and walked to rest of the way, and returned to Rodney Bay entirely on foot – about one hour leisurely walk along he coast. Would well recommend this scenic route. We arranged our taxi from Rodney Bay to Soufriere with Janus – fantastic service, best price!! And great to chat with our driver Fabian on the way. We’ve had a wonderful time here. We’d recommend walking to the botanical gardens (1/2 hours walk). The Sulphur Springs are also worth a visit for a go in the mud baths (just beware of the stench!). we took the bus from the town center (near the church) for 1.50EC each. Where the driver dropped us off ½ a mile from Volcano. We walked back, taking in the incredible views over the pitons and beautiful beaches. We’d also recommend visiting Anse Chastanet and Anse Mamin Beaches – again, one hour walk with incredible views along the way. In terms of food, Fedo’s is a must – unbelievably good food at a ridiculously cheap price. Ruby’s was also great and the Zaka Art Café is a must for any coffee lover. In all we had a great stay. The people have been lovely, Fabian and Janus have been very welcoming and the spectacular views have been incomparable. We hope you have as equally great time! Beth and Nico Thank you Janus for an amazing place to stay!! We’ll happily be back soon! We loved staying here!1/12/2018
Catherine & Jordan /Jan 5-11,2018/ Columbus, OH
Food: Pier 28: about a 15-20 min walk from Sapphire. They have some really delicious cocktails & blended drinks. The food was good but honestly the drinks were more worth it than the meal. Jordan enjoyed the ‘’Orgasm in A Glass’’ & I liked my Pina colada and the Pier Special. For $45USD we got 4 blended drinks and two entrees. Fedos: Pretty cheap, it’s a good place to eat. The chicken roti was delicious but be warned that a lot of chicken and fish on the island hasn’t been deboned! We were a little disappointed because there was a couple of things on the menu we wanted but they didn’t have all the ingredients. But still, $14usd for a good lunch isn’t bad!!! Zaka’s Art café: we cannot say enough about this place. The iced coffee is amazing, the amelette is fantastic and the pancakes are yummy. We were here every day of our trip, hanging out with Simon (the owner) his wife (Leah) and their kids. Jordan even joined in on one of Simon and his kidss guitar Jam session and we talked to them about music. Absolutely stop by here, enjoy some great coffee and great conversation in a colorful space! Ruby’s: very yummy, but a little pricey. I got a completely wrong pizza (I asked for maegherita & got their veggie pizza) but I told them I’d eat it anyways. The owner was coming around the table and checking on everyone and that was nice to see! Mango Tree: ended up eating here 2 nights in a row since most places were closed Monday. Pricier but very good! They do a tapas menu on Sundays. If you get the chance, go at sunset and ask for a seat by the railing/edge, its beautiful (reservation required for dinner) Orlando’s: Another pricier spot, but absolutely wonderful. They have a cat named pretty who will come looking for a little attention (this thrilled me) but if you want to ignore her, she wont bother you. The menu changes here constantly so I can’t recommend anything, but Orlando will probably come out to introduce himself and chat!! Sugar Beach Bayside Restaurant: absolutely fantastic. Definitely on the pricer side (at least for dinners, not sure bout lunch) but worth it in my opinion. We got 1 apps, 2 entrees $ 2 drinks on our tab was $222USD. Jordans flank steak was amazing and my favorite thing was a tomato crab stone – something (its an app) melt in your mouth quality. Activities: Tet Paul Nature Trail: Cheap ($10usd/person) with a guide included. The hike up and down really isn’t hard and the view at the top is GORGEOUS!!! Piton Falls: Leah (from Zaka’s) gave us great advice. If you can go after dark. You will look and feel a bit like you’re breaking the law but don’t worry!! The hike/walk down to the 3 pools is dark so make sure you have at least a phone with a flashlight but its stairs with a handrail so you’ll be okay! The water is super nice, except maybe a couple locals (if you go at night) and you can see the stars nicely! Highly recommend. Parasailing: and this up in Rodney Bay; it was fun but had to go up individually since it was to windy Atlantic Snores Horseback Riding: we did a private ride for a little extra but it was worth it. This is down by the airport and was worth the drive. Max was a great guide and the horses were beautiful. The scenery is lovely and you get to stop at the beach for a bit. No need for any experience either; ive ridden for years but it was Jordan’s first and it was easy-peesy for him (you might get sore though) Rainforest Aerial Tram Zipline and Hike Tour: about 1 hour and a half from Soufriere but very fun. You take a nice calm aerial tram ride course up walk/hike the zipline and then go through and really fun zips. You then hike back up to the aerial tram and go back to the base where you receive a complimentary drink (NA) The guides were great, and I left very safe and secure doing all the activities Sunset Catamarn Tour: We did this with Mystic Man Tours for about $60USD per person. It comes with unlimited beers and rum punch and some finger foods. The views of the sunset was beautiful and we got to see some small whales! A lot of whales actually! Super cool. I’d recommend this since it’s local, so you can just walk there rather than most of the activities I’ve recommend Beaches: Anse Chastanet and Sugar Beach are nice. Try going when people are getting ready for dinner b/c the beaches aren’t as populated at Sugar Beach was fun and you can rent equipment there. WARNING! The walk from the main gate at SB is long and steep!!! Took us bout 15 minutes downhill but thankfully shuttled up to the top. While there’s no crazy walk to AC, the drive from Soufriere is short but Super scary!!! Thank you Janus for an amazing place to stay!! We’ll happily be back soon! We loved staying here! 😊 😊 From discovering of Sapphire 3 on Airbnb to the scenic view of the Pitons from our bedroom patio, to the comfort of our stay, to Janus gracious and positive personality, two fabulous positive aura and charming personalities, we absolutely LOVED our stay here.
We definitely will be returning!!! Happy 2018 and God Bless Makeba & Ryan This will not be our fist trip to the Island!! Can’t wait to stay at your properties again!!!1/10/2018
Rety & Tatjama from Canada
First off – Janus is an absolute sweetheart. And so is his staff!!! We felt welcome from the first moment. Janus was not here when we arrived, but his staff was. He dropped by later in the day to greet us and give some insider tips!!! Thing we enjoyed -
Snorkeling – Anse Cochon-Get beach access passed for $10USD per person from Ti-Kaye Sugar Beach – Did not feel welcome; great snorkeling though Anse Chastanet Janus from the bottom – THANK YOU for your hospitality & flexibility. This will not be our fist trip to the Island!! Can’t wait to stay at your properties again!!! Ttajana & Remi The Apartment is very clean and comfortable, and Janus and his team are very welcoming and helpful.12/7/2017
We really enjoyed our stay in Soufriere – The Apartment is very clean and comfortable, and Janus and his team are very welcoming and helpful. We can’t really add to much and the great tips in here but here are the few additional bits of information:
1. Water Taxi to Anse Chastanet – we asked someone at the main jetty who called a local - his brother Rudy came with the boat. We paid E.C $100.00 for the return trip. It was worth it. The Beaches are beautiful. Especially Anse Mamin. 2. Malgretoute: it’s on the road to Sugar Beach. Lovely quiet beach, great snorkeling no facilities. 3. Enbas Saut Trail: This is a lovely rainforest walk leading down to a waterfall, where you can bathe. You really need a 4wd for the trail stretch of the road. We paid E.C$25 per person to walk the trail. We didn’t have a guide. Keep an eye out for the crabs! Ruth & Steve, London, UK Our stay overall was very enjoyable. Nice clean apartment. Janus and Fabian were great! Very helpful, when we needed a jump (our car died) and requested to stay an hour longer to get packed up and out. Our list of what we did and rated on a scale of 1-10: 1. Botanical Gardens -10 – free, beautiful 2. Diamond waterfall -8 - Cool but $7 to see a waterfall ☹ 3. Tet Paul Nature Trail -8 -Nice walk, definitely not a hike $10 4. Anse Chastanet -9 – Great snorkeling, small beach, non-residents. Welcomed 5. Anse Mamin – 7 – nice quiet beach, clear, calm water 6. Pitit Piton -9.5 – My husband said it was strenuous 😊 $$$$ 7. Pigeon National Park- 9 -fun hike, beautiful view from top, small beach 8. Sugar Beach – 9 – Awesome beach, but you have to hit up a restaurant to get a ride back up ☹ 9. Marigot Bay – 6 – quick picture spot 10. Morne Plantation – 8 – fun informative $11 11. Castries Market – 5 -Meh. A lot of the same merchandise St. Lucia Overall – 8 😊 Mr. & Mrs. Sidwell

WEATHER IN SAINT LUCIA
While most places in the world have four well-defined seasons, its proximity to the equator means that this is not really the case for the island of St. Lucia. Archives
