"Enjoy Soufriere, we certainly did!! Especially views from this lovely house!!"

6/25/2016

We had a great week in Soufriere! Thank you Janus, Mars and Elma for all of your information, help, and fresh fruit and bread! Below is a list of things we enjoyed and hope others will too;
  • Tet Paul Nature Trail – great views for much less of a hike than the Pitons!
  • Gros Piton Hike – a physical accomplishment to be proud of (view is a bit underwhelming and trail is quite busy) 4-5 hrs. round trip.
  • New Jerusalem Mineral Baths – only a quick drive from the house, beautiful walk to the baths, lovely owner, not many tourists.
  • Martha’s Table – Nice lunch on the way to Sugar Beach.
  • Street market in Soufriere – fun place to buy fish and vegetables from locals every morning.
  • Sa Nous Ration Food truck – yummy, inexpensive vegetarian local food on the waterfront in Soufriere – dal, roti and juices are good.
  • Anse Mamin – bach around the corner from Anse Chastanet, much less crowded. Very peaceful. $11.00 to rent a chair or just lie on the sand, by far the least crowded beach we went to about 10 minute from Anse Chastanet. Yummy fish burger at the restaurant there too!
  • Snorkeling at Anse Chastanet and Sugar Beach probably best at Anse Chastent but lots of fun everywhere.
  • Drinks/Sunset at Ladera – like someone else said in this book, get the $6.00 appetizer to avoid a $25.00 cover charge. View is spectacular!
  • Coconut bread/cake at purity bakery.

Enjoy Soufriere, we certainly did!! Especially views from this lovely house!!

Forgot morne Coubaril - good overview of history/agriculture on the island.

The Laramess

P.S Forgot to mention Orlando's for a nice meal in town and Petit Peak for a nice lunch in Soufriere!

Thank you Janus

"We could have stayed here much longer. Shame this little house was already booked up so far in advance – but I am not surprised!"

First of all: Thank you Janus for such a wonderful stay!

We could have stayed here much longer. Shame this little house was already booked up so far in advance – but I am not surprised!

We really enjoyed lunch at Fedo’s just round the corner (10 minutes’ walk from here). We also got fish for one of the street market traders near the church in town and grilled them in the oven, highly recommended!

Lunch at Martha’s on the way to Sugar Beach Resort was also great, really worth a try!

Last but not least, thank for the fresh fruit and bread Janus. Staying at the Villa and enjoying those was the best!

Thanks!

Jess

"Piton beer is tasty. Have a great stay!"

6/25/2016

Had a great stay! Janus is a great host.

Favorites include:
  • Anse Mamin (SP?). Gorgeous beach, nice walk there, pretty good snorkeling, laid back atmosphere, good pinna coladas, and great place for sunset. Our favorite beach.
  • Restaurant @ Anse Chastanet . Delicious Indian Dish food. Had a feast sitting next to the ocean watching Jamaican fruit bats fly by.
  • Skippers restaurant in town. Great fish, beans, plaintains, and cheaps (dinner and beers for 2 for $30.00).
  • Sugar Beach – Beautiful beach/ Piton views and best snorkeling we had. (and best views).
  • Mountain Biking at Anse Chastanet is awesome!

FYIs:
  • You need a guide for the piton climbs and is US$35.00/pp.
  • Drive to Marigot Bay is  - 1 hour (we thought it was closer).
  • Piton beer is tasty.

Have a great stay!

"Enjoy this villa, it’s perfection. Thank you again Janus – We’ll be back!"

6/25/2016

Second to write in this book, second Torontonians! Janus, thank you for everything, you’ve been amazing.

Some Tips
  • Sugar Beach, just go. Stunning.
  • Gross Piton Climb, start early, work at your pace, wear sturdy shoes, use a walking pole and stretch afterwards.

Apparently many people stop at the ¾ mark – Don’t! Press on, the last ¼ isn’t has hard as the ½ - ¾ point. The views, and the accomplishment, is worth it!
  • The bar at Ladera has the best views of both Pitons but they charge a $25.00USD cover charge! Bypass this by having some small bites (snacks are $6.00USD) with your drinks.
  • Boucan@ Hotel Chocolat, delicious food! Best Fancy meal we had on the island. Tuesday night is BBQ Buffet and a great deal.
  • Go snorkeling anywhere around here.
  • Marigot Bay is a gorgeous little bay. If you’re going to dinner, go early and enjoy the beach first.
  • In Soufriere, many restaurants close early so if you’re planning on take away, get food in the afternoon. A lot of places run out of food as the day goes by too so get your dinner around lunch for the best selection.
  • If you are a light sleeper, wear earplugs. Dogs and roosters, are vocal all day and night.
  • Get out and walk. From here you can reach the town proper by food in 20 minutes. In the north Rodney Bay Village is entirely walkable. Explore, meet locals, get exercise!

There’s probably more but two full pages is enough. Enjoy this villa, it’s perfection. Thank you again Janus – We’ll be back!

An honor to be the first to write in the guest book. Janus is a class act! No request was too big, all of our wants and needs were exceeded.

We love St. Lucia, the weather, the beaches, the people, and make sure you drop into Orlando’s for a fantastic dinner!

Thank you Janus, we had an absolutely fantastic vacation and we will definitely see you again.

Kimberly & Groff Hicks

P.S Sugar Beach was gorgeous – had a great lunch, snorkeling and free WIFI to boot!

    WEATHER IN SAINT LUCIA
While most places in the world have four well-defined seasons, its proximity to the equator means that this is not really the case for the island of St. Lucia.
