About a year ago we took a cruise that stopped in St Lucia. On that cruise we took a tour that brought us to Soufriere and we fell in love. Our home even has painted photos we took our first time here. So almost immediately after arriving home we found Janus and this villa on airbnb and booked this trip. Since we have been planning the trip for a year I have lots of ideas, reservations, and even a spreadsheet to keep track of it all but I'm only on day 3 as of writing this and I've learned one piece of advice & would like to share.
Go with the flow, enjoy relaxing on the island if plans need to change, don't worry. Especially in this villa, I can already tell that Janus really means it when he says he is there to help and make sure we have a great time.
Day 1(Arrival) - Our flight was delayed and the supermarket was very busy ( 1 hour to find food and pay) so we didn't arrive until late, but Janus was here waiting, and still very welcoming when he showed us around. I really appreciated that after a long day.
Food: Beer & Burgers at Ruby's. 4/5. The burger was great and just what we needed. Walking distance & good prices.
Day 2- We went to Anse Chastenet to book our scuba diving for the week. The staff at the shop were super friendly, and they have many different dives to choose from. Once booked we walked down to Anse Mamin beach.
We returned to the villa, relaxed at the pool until dinner. The pool is becoming a favorite.
Food: Burgers at Jungle Bar (Anse Mamin) Ashton 3/5... Chris 4.5/5
Dinner at Boucan 6/5- Best meal we have ever had!!
We ordered the pork tenderloin & Beef fillet*. It came with bread & other samples. The view was amazing i can't recommend this enough!
Day 3 ( Diving, Private Driver, Mango Tree) - Last night we decided to return the rental car and opt for Janus' private driver service. Driving around town and to Anse Chastenet was doable but the bumpy roads made trips a bit stressful for us and we wanted to relax. Janus helped make the transition smooth & I think it was the best decision for us. Janus' brother happened to be the person who picked us up most of the day and he was amazing. We love chatting with people when we travel and he was very warm, and knowledgeable.
We did the shore dive at Anse Chastenet which is required to be your first dive as a certified diver at their dive shop and it was beautiful! People come by boat to dive there. I would do it again.
We did dinner at Mango Tree. Tip: Sundays there is Tapas night with live steel drum music.
Day 4( walk into town)- Today we decided to walk into town. About a 20 min walk. Easy on the way down, harder uphill with groceries on your back. We checked out a couple places including:
- Coffee at Zaka's (4/5) great coffee)
- a drug store at the corner of Bridge and Frederick, we were able to find a couple medications we needed.
-Eroline's supermarket- although smaller than Massy's this had everything we needed! And it was less crowded.
After we made pasta for dinner and stayed in the villa.
Day 5-(Sunset Cruise)- We stayed in the villa most of today again. For the evening we planned a sunset cruise I booked back home through Mystic Man. I would highly recommend this. Food, open bar, stunning sunset views for US$66 per person. Lots of people were dancing with their s.o.s towards the end.
Day 6(Sugar Beach spa & lunch)- Today was all about Sugar Beach. We booked a couple's massage at Sugar Beach before we came to St Lucia. It was about $300 but 100% worth it. From the moment you walk into the spa's entrance you are in a whole new world. (Most amazing spa I have ever been to!!)
Tip: We arrived about 45 mins early and we were about to book the steam room while we waited at no extra charge.
Tip 2: If you have a spa appointment you don't have to pay the $50 for a shuttle.
After the spa we had a lunch reservation at Bayside at Sugar Beach. The meal was okay(3/5). From there we sat in their sanded bar. I preferred the bar over the beach chairs as it was shaded & there was no $50 charge to sit there.
Day 7(Gardens & Jade Mountain)- We started the day at the Diamond Botanical Gardens & Waterfall. $7 each, and worth it because it was all so beautiful. We got there at 9:550 just before the 10 am open. They let us in and no crowds were there, keeping the activity peaceful.
We had dinner at Jade Mountain. Tip: Get there early and enjoy the sunset on the roof top bar with drinks before your dinner (3.75/5). For us it was a good night out but the food did not compare to the Boucan dinner.
Day 8- Today we went to the Tet Paul Nature Trail. The views were beautiful. The tour guide was very nice & knowledgeable. It was only $10 and 100% worth it. I would highly recommend going there for the views & going early to beat the cruise ship crowds. The walk isn't very difficult.
Tomorrow will be our last day. I hope those who read this find it helpful and have a fabulous time in St. Lucia
Thank you to Janus & his team! A big thanks to Jermal. for making our trip so effortless & relaxing.
