Jalousie Beach (Sugar Beach)
Located only 20 minutes from Serrana Villa is Jalousie Beach. Here, nestled between the twin Piton Mountains, is a beautiful white sand beach that is a local favorite sunning spot.

Anse Chastanet Beach (Jade Mountain & Anse Chastanet Resort)

There's no question whether you will want to visit the Piton Mountains. Spend a little time gazing at them via the spectacular views from Serrana Villa and you will want to see them up close and personal!
The Piton Mountains are among the most famous attractions in the Soufriere area and in St. Lucia as a whole. The mountains are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and appear as twin volcanic spires that rise up from the sea side by side. The mountains are connected by the Piton Mitan ridge. The two mountains that make up the twin Pitons are Gros Piton and Petit Piton.
Gros Piton is a bit of a challenge to hike, but is by far the easier of the two. We would be happy to help you book a guided excursion to the summit, which offers some of the best views of the island that you will find anywhere. Gros Piton features an Interpretive Centre, or a welcome center, that explains more about the geography and plant and animal life in the area.
The Park Service does require that people hiking Gros Piton do so only with a guide. The guides are informative and professional and can provide you with a great deal of information as you ascend to the top of the mountain.
The climb itself takes around 5 hours, and is definitely more of a hike than a climb, meaning that it does not require special skills or present a great deal of danger. Those who make it to the summit are rewarded with breathtaking views of Petit Piton and of the island of St. Lucia.
Petit Piton is another matter entirely. Making it to the summit of this mountain means using primitive fixed ropes and traversing through very narrow areas while climbing almost entirely vertically in some parts.
Definitely not for the novice, hiking Petit Piton should only be done with an experienced guide. Taking the trip with a local is highly advised, and for those who do make it to the summit, the reward is a view that words simply cannot describe!

Walking around in the crater at Sulphur Springs is now prohibited after one of the area's guides fell into waist-deep boiling water while jumping up and down on the crater. He suffered severe burns from the waist down and new regulations were put into place to protect the safety of the area's visitors.
There is a very strong smell of sulfur that comes out of Sulphur Springs. The aroma is weak during the day, but can grow to be very strong during the St. Lucia nights. While you can smell the volcano from miles away at night, this is actually a good thing. If the smell were to go away, it would be a sign that an eruption was on the horizon!
Sulphur Springs is located in Soufriere. The people of Soufriere take great pride in having the world's only drive-in volcano at their doorsteps. For many people, in fact, this is quite literally true, as there are many people who live right at the perimeter of the craters!
The St Lucia volcano, also known as Sulphur Springs, is only 10 minutes from Serrana Villa and is said to be the only drive-in volcano in the entire world. The last minor eruption was in the late 1700's and included only steam, rather than magma and ash.

Piton Falls is located only a fifteen minute car ride from Serrana Villa. How the waterfall got its name is a mystery, as its water does not come from the famed Piton Mountains. Many believe that it is so named because it is on the way to Petit Piton.
It's hard to know just how the waterfall got its name; after all, many things in Soufriere are associated with the Pitons. You can get to Piton Falls quite easily if you are on your way to Jalousie, and you will always find the waters to be warm and refreshing regardless of the time of day you arrive.
