MORE ESCAPE RECOMMENDATIONS
Jalousie Beach (Sugar Beach)
Located only 20 minutes from Serrana Villa is Jalousie Beach. Here, nestled between the twin Piton Mountains, is a beautiful white sand beach that is a local favorite sunning spot.
The clear waters and an 1800 foot dropoff at the base of the Pitons also makes this beach a hotspot for those looking for snorkeling and scuba adventures. The Sugar Beach resort, which was formerly known as Jalousie Plantation, is also located here.
Anse Chastanet Beach (Jade Mountain & Anse Chastanet Resort)
Situated only 20 minutes from Serrana Villa is Anse Chastanet. Snorkelers love this beach, as there is a sharp dropoff as well as coral reefs and beautiful sea walls that make it easy to enjoy the ocean life without having to take a boat out into deeper areas.
The beach has naturally occurring black sand, which highlights the volcanic origins of St. Lucia. High end guests flock to this beach daily from the resort that shares its name with the beach.
MORE ESCAPE RECOMMENDATIONS
There's no question whether you will want to visit the Piton Mountains. Spend a little time gazing at them via the spectacular views from Serrana Villa and you will want to see them up close and personal!
The Piton Mountains are among the most famous attractions in the Soufriere area and in St. Lucia as a whole. The mountains are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and appear as twin volcanic spires that rise up from the sea side by side. The mountains are connected by the Piton Mitan ridge. The two mountains that make up the twin Pitons are Gros Piton and Petit Piton.
Gros Piton is a bit of a challenge to hike, but is by far the easier of the two. We would be happy to help you book a guided excursion to the summit, which offers some of the best views of the island that you will find anywhere. Gros Piton features an Interpretive Centre, or a welcome center, that explains more about the geography and plant and animal life in the area.
The Park Service does require that people hiking Gros Piton do so only with a guide. The guides are informative and professional and can provide you with a great deal of information as you ascend to the top of the mountain.
The climb itself takes around 5 hours, and is definitely more of a hike than a climb, meaning that it does not require special skills or present a great deal of danger. Those who make it to the summit are rewarded with breathtaking views of Petit Piton and of the island of St. Lucia.
Petit Piton is another matter entirely. Making it to the summit of this mountain means using primitive fixed ropes and traversing through very narrow areas while climbing almost entirely vertically in some parts.
Definitely not for the novice, hiking Petit Piton should only be done with an experienced guide. Taking the trip with a local is highly advised, and for those who do make it to the summit, the reward is a view that words simply cannot describe!
The St Lucia volcano, also known as Sulphur Springs, is only 10 minutes from Serrana Villa and is said to be the only drive-in volcano in the entire world. The last minor eruption was in the late 1700's and included only steam, rather than magma and ash.
In the 1830's, some 760 tons of sulphur was mined and exported from the volcano. While there are clear signs of activity, including boiling mud and water as well as escaping steam, the volcano is a dormant one.
There are many pots of water in Sulphur Springs that are above the boiling point. Due to minerals such as carbon, magnesium, copper oxide, iron, sulfur, and calcium oxide, the water has many different colors at the surface.
The caldera is believed to be connected to the ocean because there is an increased reaction during a full moon resulting in higher than usual tides. While all of the islands in the eastern Caribbean are linked via a volcanic arc, Sulphur Springs is unique because the water has therapeutic qualities. In fact, you will find that there are many people who bathe there in order to get rid of skin blemishes and other ailments!
Walking around in the crater at Sulphur Springs is now prohibited after one of the area's guides fell into waist-deep boiling water while jumping up and down on the crater. He suffered severe burns from the waist down and new regulations were put into place to protect the safety of the area's visitors.
There is a very strong smell of sulfur that comes out of Sulphur Springs. The aroma is weak during the day, but can grow to be very strong during the St. Lucia nights. While you can smell the volcano from miles away at night, this is actually a good thing. If the smell were to go away, it would be a sign that an eruption was on the horizon!
Sulphur Springs is located in Soufriere. The people of Soufriere take great pride in having the world's only drive-in volcano at their doorsteps. For many people, in fact, this is quite literally true, as there are many people who live right at the perimeter of the craters!
Diamond Waterfall is located only five minutes drive away from Serrana Villa. This waterfall has, over time, become one of the island's most popular. While you can't bathe directly under the waterfall, there are warm water mineral pools where you can soak your stresses and cares away.
The water in the mineral baths is said to have age-defying qualities. It is purported to make even aged individuals looks and feel young once again. Whether this rumor is true or not, the simple fact is that the water is so tempting and relaxing that you may find yourself spending an entire day leisurely soaking away.
The water at Diamond Waterfall is always warm, as it comes from the foot of Sulphur Springs, the world's only drive-in volcano. This beautiful waterfall is located in the picturesque St. Lucia town of Soufriere.
Toraille Falls is a truly magnificent sight, located only ten minutes drive from the villa. Toraille Falls is accepted as one of St. Lucia's nature heritage sites, and there are few experiences quite like watching the water cascading down from an impressive height of 50 feet.
While there are many tourists who visit Toraille Falls every day, you will also find that there are many locals who visit the attraction. The relaxing sights and sounds are the perfect way to unwind, whether you want to enjoy a calm vacation or want to clear your mind for a busy work week.
Toraille Falls can be found within easy reach of the main road in Soufriere. It is perfectly situated along the way to the Fond St. Jacques rain forest.
Piton Falls is located only a fifteen minute car ride from Serrana Villa. How the waterfall got its name is a mystery, as its water does not come from the famed Piton Mountains. Many believe that it is so named because it is on the way to Petit Piton.
It's hard to know just how the waterfall got its name; after all, many things in Soufriere are associated with the Pitons. You can get to Piton Falls quite easily if you are on your way to Jalousie, and you will always find the waters to be warm and refreshing regardless of the time of day you arrive.
The water at Piton Falls comes from about 30 feet up in the air and falls into a pool where people tend to congregate and bathe. The entrance fee to the waterfall is only $2 USD and is worth every penny of it and more. Waterfalls in St. Lucia.
In the heart of St. Lucia’s historic capital of Soufriere, a vacation rental like no other is nearing completion.
While the exterior views of the Pitons World Heritage Site is impressive, the interior promises to be nothing short of spectacular. If you think you’d have to be rich to experience this vacation home, think again.
When we began work on the development of Serrana Escape, we looked at many locations, considered every added amenity that would define the ultimate vacation home experience — pool, yard space, lighting, reading areas/gazebo, and so much more.
We challenged ourselves along with the contractors we worked alongside with to find the best, most eco-friendly way possible to design and build this remarkable home.
So the result of this massive effort is something entirely new. An experience different from anything before it. An escape that provides the delicate balance of cultural immersion, privacy and an extremely powerful way to truly experience St. Lucia.
The villa starts at a nightly rate of US$210.00 and can accommodate up to 4 people. You’ll be looking out to views of our majestic twin peaks the most sort after view on the island and our job is to make you experience it.
At Serrana we are defining location and everything that the location affords. It was very important that the Villa was built minutes from the island’s popular attractions such as the Volcano, Botanicals Gardens and many white sand beaches. One thing about this villa that is entirely unique is its centered position in the historic capital of Soufriere – that really sets the villa apart.
Building a peaceful oasis in the middle of the heart of St. Lucia is a difficult thing. The luxurious Villa is set on becoming and staying the most desirable address in Saint Lucia.
The length that we’re going through to make this escape amenity packed is unheard of. Without question there aren’t many properties that can boast Serrana’s remarkable offerings. We’ve made renting for vacationers affordable and it’s an incredibly serene place to live.
Located Soufriere, home of the iconic attractions that make the island what’s been coined The Helen of The West. A town where there are many generic villas, its difficult for any to stand out, but Serrana might just has broken the mold. It’s a luxurious escape made of concrete, wood and glass.
I wish to personally thank you for your superb customer service and quality of service. Both yourself and Elma were most courteous and professional in helping us secure our reservation, especially with my last minute problem of missing the flight.
Our stay at Bocean was an absolutely remarkable experience, we are glad we chose it for a much needed holiday. The car we hired for 2 days made everything that much more fun & interesting. We were able to visit the volcano in Soufriere. Something my wife had always dreamed of doing, along with a perfect dinner at Ladera Resort. We were awe struck by the amazing views at the Tet Paul Trail, our substitute after we passed on doing the Gros Piton Climb.
Marcus our assigned villa manager was a terrific host, we got more than we bargained for when he along with his wife graciously made us hot Johnny cakes and coco tea. A wonderful treat we wished we had in Michigan.
I also wish to tell you that Gideon was extremely pleasant and we had a great conversation when he picked us up on the last day. He is a credit to you and your business, Janus. Special mention also to his nephew who picked our groceries up the second day during our 5 day stay. Cannot remember his name, but he made me laugh as he was waving to numerous people driving in the opposite direction, including friends and family.. i guess on a small island, most people know each other! :)
Rest assured, I will be telling anyone I know, who is considering going to St. Lucia, to reserve your properties “ escapes", and with my wife being an executive with Virgin Atlantic airways, who, as you know, fly direct to UVF daily, she will also be spreading the word amongst all her colleagues as to how good your service is. Word of mouth is the best advertising.
Thank you again, and until soon I hope.

My wife and I were interested in coming to St. Lucia for a two week vacation and as usual we started our search on Google for villa rentals in St. Lucia. The main aim of this vacation was to be in a home away from home with all the amenities we needed. We wanted an ocean view as well as being anyway from the busy concrete jungle that we were accustomed to. Following or detailed search, we requested quotes and further information from a number of villas we found online. We received the quickest response from islander villas escapes.
After the initial communication with islander villas we never turned back from there. They were extremely helpful in so many ways and their package included all of the essential stuff we needed for a relaxing stress free vacation. Firstly, they offered airport transfer to the villa at no additional cost. They also offer a welcome grocery package that saved us the initial trip to the supermarket that comes with booking a villa. They also offered an on call chauffeur service as well as offering to make a car rental booking on our behalf at a discounted price with a sister car Rental Company, Islander Cars St. Lucia.
Upon arrival we were chauffeured from the airport to Bocean villa by the most graceful and knowledgeable driver, “Sam.” Pictures really don’t do justice to Bocean villa. This villa is nothing short of spectacular. As stated online, this villa is beautiful both inside and out. At Bocean, there are breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea and the mountain side. Not to mention that the sunsets are to die for. On the days which were not hazy, we were able to see Martinique, which is the Island 21 miles north of St. Lucia
Once we got to the villa we were greeted by villa manager Marcus, who gave us a full tour of the villa. This company seems to attract the best employees. By the time he was done with us we felt like we were part of the Islander villa escape family. Just as was stated online we had this beautiful welcome grocery package which catered to most of our needs. Marcus helped us to settle in quite nicely and our vacation began.
Living at Bocean villa is so very addictive that we really didn’t want to leave when it was time to. There is a constant cool Caribbean breeze that can be enjoyed even on very hot days while taking in this awesome view of the Caribbean Sea.
Bocean villa is a 20 minute drive away from Soufriere which is the high point for most west coast tours of St. Lucia. In Soufriere we visited the Drive in Volcano (Sulphur Springs) and we did the mud bath there. We also visited the Diamond falls and botanical gardens and we did the mineral baths there. We took photos with the pitons in the background and enjoyed the post card views of Soufriere. We also visited the beautiful Anse Chastanet Beach in Soufriere. Even closer to the villa though is Anse Cochon beach which is 15 drive minutes away. This is one of the loveliest snorkeling beaches in St. Lucia, which has crystal clear water, beautiful coral reef and colorful fishes.
The villa is located 3 minutes drive away from the village of Canaries. In canaries we were able to purchase some of the best bread we have ever tasted. It’s like we couldn’t have found a villa in a better location. Therefore, we highly recommend booking Bocean Villa for your dream vacation in St. Lucia, for the villa in and of itself and all of the beautiful nearby attractions.
